With a new format starting, I'm hoping to get back on my feet. Hopefully with the result of some practice I am going to be better than ever!
For now, this is day 1. |

The Notetaker | #2 | Mon Apr 29, 2019 9:01 AM | Delete | I think I will begin the new format with altergeist. [url:2swpktab]https://imgur.com/wZ3r9ca[/url:2swpktab] Draft 1 of my list to test the new format. I know trap decks have been told to be weak, but I have a soft spot for these disrupters. |

The Notetaker | #3 | Mon Apr 29, 2019 8:05 PM | Delete | So a bit of early DB grinding. Nothing special, just playing some games, getting the feel for stuff. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9769997Altergeist vs dinosaurs 1-0 Game 1 I go second after losing RPS and start a bit slow, he makes a field and uses his disruption poorly. We both play a bit meh and make many mistakes. I misread oviraptor when he uses it to target itself, lol. I win with a better engine and better plays, and he goes offline after I win game 1. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9770399Altergeist vs Pendulum Magicians 2-1 Game 1 I open with backrow after winning RPS and going first, he nails my hand trap with called, and his pit hits solemn strike, but he has no gas and gets grinded out by minimal alt stuff. Game 2 he opens weak but I open 6 altergeist, third game in a row to open manifestation I think? I only play 1, lulz, but oh wellz. He cannot internet well, and lags into wrong searches sometimes. I take game 3 with a good set of backrow, warning for the denko and limit to lock him, easily beating him with altergeist cards from there. I need to decide if denko or evenly is more likely, I do not think as much of denko when they like to normal a pend, but they like their BP too, says how good dropping faker early is vs not. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9770800Altergeist vs Thunder Dragons 2-0 Game 1 I go first winning RPS, open weird with one for one getting melu to normal faker into a hextia play into silq and a faker. Wanted to see how that played out. I should have used melu under hextia since faker is already in GY. Anyhow, my backrow is drained, by danger, but he runs out of gas and does some weird stuff when I refuse to silq a danger to let him go again, resulting in me breaking his board and pretty easily controlling the game from there. Game 2 I open faker infinite, but he quits. Wasn’t quite sure how I’d side, starting shooting solemns and went for pankra rather than evenlys. A single duality went out but I kept the other, might have been a mistake. But he goes for a thunder dragon and quits. Guess he bricked. Change to list -1 Imperial order: It is looking very weak. I think I will cut it, while my game testing is low, I see now the card being weak going second, combined with any potential thunder dragon play, makes this seem weak. I see no reason for it to be stronger vs much else, maybe a cute lock piece for random spells going first, but with sky strikers hit, I doubt this is needed. +1 Effect Veiler (in main): Card has proven itself at least usable in my 3 matches, eats up most altergeist hate like denko and dodging evenly. -1 Effect Veiler (in side): Moved to the main ofc. +1 Super Poly (in side): A field breaker and possible disruption. Take that Salamangreat! Take that Thunder Dragons! Hey, maybe you too pendulums! Or dark dudes in general. Idk, trollsy card is trollsy. Will test at 1, if it is good, might try a second copy, given it moved up. -1 Altergeist Kidolga: Card sucks, never makes it, but space was a bit open. Now I need the slot. -1 Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon: Troll cybers, slot was open, now it isn’t. +1 Starving Venom Fusion Dragon: Darks are good on field, this kills them. +1 Salamangreat Violet Chimera: Because Salamangreat is a good deck to have side for. Wonder if I still just run the 1 copy of extradeck slot for the super poly if I do run it at 2, or if I will just go for the openers, altergeist is grindy enough and has a bit of a flexible extradeck to actually mull over those redundancies. https://imgur.com/8COUlje A new screenshot of my list! Want to keep it timestamped so I can see what it looked like back then. |

The Notetaker | #4 | Tue Apr 30, 2019 8:03 AM | Delete | Want to note an addition to my intent for duel gameplay notes. The format will now be as follows.
Duel Replay Link My deck vs Opponent’s Deck (my wins-their wins) Will aim to give at least a basic note on each game. I will add siding choices for each game now, as I think this will help see my sideboarding philosophy for the match-ups. |

The Notetaker | #5 | Tue Apr 30, 2019 11:44 AM | Delete | [url:mktiwfa4]https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9782062[/url:mktiwfa4] Altergeist vs Thunder Dragons (1-0) Game 1 I win the RPS and start, faker infinite is a flop going first, duality a warning, hit the solar and my faker is ashed. Faker silq beatdown for 2k apiece does them in until they quit. Checking the replay shows their hand was dead in the opening, they did not wish to IF me because of silq getting faker reset for no reason, and super poly is trash in this match-up. So their deck actually had some function, but flopped hard in the match-up and hand given.
[url:mktiwfa4]https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9782180[/url:mktiwfa4] Altergeist vs Trickstar Sky Striker(1-2) Game 1 I lose the RPS and get chosen to go first. Faker infinite is meh, but I don’t melu start, bit of a goof, but didn’t show them what I was playing. Distracted start on my part, was better to just melu. My [YGOCARD]Summon Limit[/YGOCARD] and infinite get set early to dodge any evenly nonsense, maybe should have set all backrow. Misplays, he shows hand, but I do not use info after he made an error with stage into stage. I play poorly and make clear mistakes, should have set the other infinite. Side:+3 pankratops +3 [YGOCARD]Heavy Storm Duster[/YGOCARD] -1 veiler, -2 [YGOCARD]Summon Limit[/YGOCARD], -3 infinite impermanence
Game 2 I go first and set 3. [YGOCARD]One for One[/YGOCARD] seems weak and my faker gets ashed after evenly hits me. I find out they only use desires, no extravagance. My own copy gets my [YGOCARD]One for One[/YGOCARD] online and melu hextia pressure eventually get the better of their plays. I goof and make unicorn after trying to link without prime, need to check my extra and note it more. They made a goof and failed to [YGOCARD]Reboot[/YGOCARD] my warning, which cut off their play source, which may have cost them.
Side: +1 veiler -1 [YGOCARD]Solemn Strike[/YGOCARD] Wanted to keep the chance of going first, which ended up happening. Strike is better there, but kept veilers for anti-reboot.
Game 3 I start, get rebooted and die to an otk.
Match-up seems awkward, seems they can side savagely for us and keep on trading, but alts have a better engine if they can grind. Odd case of their disruption techs being stronger, but monsters power might be weaker attritionally. Initially had a brief glitch where I couldn’t use the see both hands but was fixed on the second attempt. I may give this replay a harder look later, I was on part distracted early on trying to get these notes set-up, I should spend more time focusing on the duel and making the notes afterwards. Getting distracted is my fault. But that’s what these notes are here for, seeing mistakes and looking back. |

We play poorly and my double veiler opening was eh, but I outgrind them. Altergeist> U.A.s Side +3 Pankratops, +3 Heavy Storm duster -3 Effect Veiler, -2 Summon Limit, -1 Infinite Impermanence Game 2 we trade heavily, they let me start and twitwi me, getting their trap effect off but ashed. We exchange some cards and I pankra top melu to win the grind. Nothing special, just a quick stress match to pass time. |

The Notetaker | #8 | Tue Apr 30, 2019 7:36 PM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9790092Altergeist vs Anti-meta (2-1) Game 1 I lost the RPS and faced down boarder. Despite numerous attempts to get around it, his traps shut me down for a clean game 1. Side: -1 silq, -3 veiler, -1 solemn warning, -3 solemn strike, -2 summon limit +2 boarder, +3 pankratops, +3 evenly, +3 duster Game 2 my side brutalized him. Side: Kept the same He was brutalized game 3 as well. |

The Notetaker | #9 | Tue Apr 30, 2019 8:07 PM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9791642Salamangreat vs Trickstar (0-2) Lost RPS and hit Scythe off his set game 1. Failed to veiler candina is a big error. No side game 1 Game 2 I get hit by the main package, looks like an artifact deal that shuts me off, and I’m negated out into a loss. |

Ririka, you seem to be banned on DB. |

Banishing 3 heritage off of desires hurts, haha, having 3 diagram overall. Yeah, quickly get mopped up. Side: +2 Strike of the Monarchs, +3 Cosmic Cyclone, ,+1 Imperial Order, +1 Solemn Judgment -3 There Can Be Only One -3 The Monarch’s Erupt -1 Skill Drain Game 2 I made them go first and throw off their evenly, quickly break their board, stop an evenly from them, and gain a clear lead with some decently timed negation. Forgot to use my effects to get an otk and instead watched my OPTs, which was a goof on my part. But I still won convincingly. Game 3 they open with the MetaltronXII unaffected by monsters, spells, and traps with digram up. I get dinomight to 3100 with his diagram and my diagram. (Not sure if the card is outable if they didn’t have diagram up. They get the naturia fusion out and cut off the diagram I needed to get my trap to kill it. I can’t get a monster so the trap couldn’t be tribute for a pop and I lose. I should have used desires before attacking but after I got the dinomight set-up, R.I.P. Did not know what their play would be, but had a chance at outing it with proper play if I had. |

Game 1 I lose the RPS Side: +1 Strike of the Monarchs +3 Cosmic Cyclone, -1 Skill Drain, -3 TCBOO Game 2 was a grindfest where I called their plays and had a crazy chain but sealed it with a metalron at the end of all things. Side stays the same. Been that way for a bit, but haven't noted it in earlier posts, sorry if it isn't there, if I didn't say anything I probably forgot to say I didn't do any extra siding. Game 3 I brick, try and get an solemn Stall, but just fail and lose. |

The Notetaker | #14 | Sat May 4, 2019 6:34 PM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9871952True Draco (ED) vs Thunder Dragons (2-1)? I win RPS game 1, open bad, but get a Draco into Imperial ftw. Side: +3 Sphere Mode, +2 Super Poly, +3 Infinite Impermanence -2 Strike of the monarchs, -1 Pot of Duality, -1 Imperial Order, -1 Solemn Judgment, -3 TCBOO He makes me go first game 2, I open bad, not even a monster, and get shredded by evenly. They soon take the game away. Side: +3 Inspector Boarder, +3 Strike of the Monarchs, +1 Pot of Duality, +1 Solemn Judgment, -2 Super Poly, -3 Sphere Mode, -3 Infinite Impermanence Game 3: We go back and forth, but they eventually DC in what looks to be a favorable position. Skill Drain is locking them up but also gumming up my plays, Draco does lack a certain amount of floating resources, especially under skill drain, and thunder dragon beatsticks were showing it, though Draco Trap popping the fusion protections under drain was nice. Not sure I really deserved this win. |

I win the RPS game 1 and while I start slow and barely squeak a Draco backed by strike and TCBOO his evenly gets gobbled and his backrow is eaten alive despite me forgetting a disciples.
Side: [url:3ri14kav]https://imgur.com/rSJSNYf[/url:3ri14kav] +3 Boarder, +1 Strike, -1 Metaltron, -1 Ipstart, -1 Order, -1 [YGOCARD]Skill Drain[/YGOCARD]
Game 2 they start with an eh opening which I eat alive till I trigger waking turn 1 into ultimate falcon. After some stalling on my end, I use my Full Armored Crystalzero Lancer the extradeck utilizes to win it. |

The Notetaker | #17 | Sun May 5, 2019 3:26 PM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9887175True Draco (ED) vs Plant FTK (2-1) Game 1 I win the RPS and start weak, but still get ignis with TCBOO and imperial. Turns out I can’t do anything under my own imperial, miss an ignis trigger, but they can’t get over imperial and stall wall me until it dies. I have so much advantage and TCBOO is enough to lock them up for game. https://imgur.com/FlUxGYa Side: +3 Sphere Mode, +2 Super Poly, +3 Infinite Impermanence -2 Strike of the Monarchs, -1 Upstart Goblin, -1 Imperial Order, -1 Solemn Judgment, -3 TCBOO Game 2: I get FTKed, didn’t draw infinite, might have sealed their fate if saved for the burn guy. My board breaking cards would have been dead. https://imgur.com/OfWCq9g Side: +3 Boarder, +3 Strike, +1 Solemn, +1 Imperial, +3 TCBOO -1 Metaltron, -1 Disciples, -3 Sphere Mode, -2 Super Poly, -1 Apoc, -3 Infinite Game 3 I start with a strong ignis boarder backed by strike and TCBOOx3, probably overkill. Should have done mild heritage drawing and given up the third copy, but oh well. Boarder protects me from reboot and strike gives extra disruption+out to evenly. He doesn’t even get to TCBOO and drops to the boarder beatdown with ignis. In hindsight should have sided out more of my Draco traps and kept more of my draw spells/draco spells, starters were key, traps to do a bit of popping, only needed 1-2 of them if that. Having one pop effect be searchable would be cute, but drawing floodgates was the key. Note: Using strike to get around evenly makes little sense in hindsight, the deck’s FTK runs a “cannot conduct BP” effect, so that would be dead if evenly were used, so unless they had yet another wincon planned, doubtful they used evenly. Still passable vs reboot and works vs twin twisters. After looking at the FTK for a bit I made this draft build. https://imgur.com/a3sxjrt and then did an FTK combo on solo. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9890046 |

Tons of mistakes were made. Will be adjusting my list though. https://imgur.com/0E7JIXT Adjustments to this list. -1 Qliphort Genius +1 Platinum Gadget: Forgot link climbing was gone, who cares about that restriction now? Summoning from hand is probably stronger than unaffected and negation. -3 Artifact Sanctum, -1 Artifact Scythe, +3 mystical space typhoon, +1 Cybernetic Overflow Outs to mine are a must, and I don’t want to use go first reliant siding, especially when the decks it could be used on could just as easily go first for their own hate rather than pick second to disrupt me. |

The Notetaker | #20 | Mon May 6, 2019 11:23 PM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9910258Cyber Dragons vs Zombies (2-1) Game 1 I win RPS and go second, zombie world trolls me, I break it and win. https://imgur.com/vKPh3PB Siding Game 2 I lose due to my own salt, get hit by Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell when I have 2 and draw a third. https://imgur.com/BoBAg9v Siding Swat them with twitwi on their zombie world and screw over all their plays. Easy win. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9918641Cyber Dragons vs Trickstar (2-0) They win RPS game 1 and make me start. We have meh hands, but mine wins out. Seemed like an awful player, failing to call my ash when viewing the replay. Granted, I don’t think I played great either. Side: https://imgur.com/FsOde5QGame 2 is another bout of meh hands with me starting, again I eventually make the field and win. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9918971Cyber Dragons vs Pendulum Magicians (0-2) Was tired this match, missed stuff and would appreciate feedback. Game 1 I lose RPS and go second. Don’t think they opened too strong, but my hand wasn’t too fantastic either. Have a bit of a grind dance, but one point of note was when I used rampage to pop, likely should have gunned for the scales. I end up losing. Side: +2 Super Poly, +2 Panktratops, +3 Effect Veiler, +1 Cybernetic Overflow, -3 Ash Blossom, -1 Instant Fusion, -3 Twin Twisters, -1 Cyber Dragon Vier They open strong when I let them go first game 2, only super poly and them letting some early spell stuff slide let me pull off the SEGOC I did to get their negates killed and my guy boosted, but I think it was a misplay to not try and ram him for more power, or leaving a guy in atk to eat up with infinity rather than go for damage. I was greedy and stupid and it cost me. |

The Notetaker | #21 | Wed May 8, 2019 12:01 AM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9933859Cyber Dragon vs Mystic Mine Burn? (2-0) They win RPS and start, but I can quickly see they are not a good player and their deck looks weak. I decide to play it safe with infinity disruption and advantage. I make short work of metaverse, not knowing what to expect but trying to avoid mine. I get baited by a ties of the brethren which I should have let pass and they slide a mine on me anyways. I force its self-destruct next turn but leave myself in a weak field position, which their deck cannot take advantage of. I easily finish the game, correcting their pendulum error and choosing to swing with another monster to speed up their admitting defeat rather than explain to them my quick effect. https://imgur.com/JELsHoI Siding leads me to side for removal effects and trimming non-starters, as I feel comfortable playing even a minimal package and do not feel the need for a strong hand, only a passable one that can pop mine. Game 2 gives me a strong opening, but I make a misplay by not ashing metaverse. This leads me to have my mst hit by solemn judgment, and my core machine dup opening leads me into fortress to force the self-destruct. I again misplay by making my cyber dragon link instead of my genius, but have so many resources I make genius using the cyber anyways to create the otk. This match gave me an appreciation for how much I was missing, facing a terrible player, let overlooking the truly critical aspect of what was game changing. My adjustments proved enough, but that’s all they were, adjustments I had to make because of my poor decisions prior. |

The Notetaker | #22 | Thu May 9, 2019 1:32 AM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9962161Cyber Dragons vs Mystic Mine burn (2-1) Game 1 they take it with a mine lock despite me ashing their pot, I am locked down until they drop Goddess Skuld's Oracle, at which point I scoop to avoid revealing any cards in a game already lost. Might powercode talker or gaia saber, (saber seems better with stats, arrows, and machine type) be a decent ED option for things like ojama trio vs mining burn? https://imgur.com/u7WBRT4 I side out my fusion spells and my infinties to get in my msts and my reboots. Idk if instant fusion was a good cut choice or not with the life payment, but I decided bodies were better and random pop effect might come up, though I’m finding this unlikely even vs mine. Game 2 I get locked up but finally squeak a reboot. I then draw the mst for their field and despite their countdown reboot stops the solemn from protecting them and I squeak enough to win. https://imgur.com/ENenFdO Keep it the same as game 2. Game 3 I end up opening up reboot and going for an otk through their attempt to set-up after being certain I had an otk and confident I did not want to risk waiting to see what would happen in a build-up. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9962471Cyber Dragons vs kozmos (2-1) Game 1 I win RPS and go second, ashing demise but finding myself facing tincan. I don’t use my twin twisters on his two sets, fearing chainables, particular any kind of mine nonsense, idk what decks use it and which ones do not anymore. I may starting maining mst instead, seems safer to just snipe that mine, and I keep siding them in, but for now, will stick with the better known twitwis. They destroy my cyber dragon and kozmojo core. Rather than push for a developed field for infinity, etc. I decide to hold back and get back core, attempting another stronger push next turn, but get otked for my troubles. https://imgur.com/43mCV6x A couple overload and an instant fusion, alongside the infinites, dropped for mst and reboots. Game 2 I end up taking it to their uber brick. R.I.P. their hand. https://imgur.com/kndzCGX No change. Game 3 I set up infinity with defense herz, not sure if they run the chimeratech stuff to hit cyber dragons in their spare slots, but I soon see them simply kill herz early to avoid letting core get grabbed back and baiting infinity with pankratops. I am easily pushed out by destroyer but they forget to swing. They set 2, getting blasted by a developed overflow, only to reveal sanctum popping destroyer and the useless scythe. I get hit. I drop cydra to face a tincan set up by their destroyer pop off of sanctum., only to face an eclipser. I let it slide and take more damage and watch them set a card. I had saved my fortress for this occasion and use reboot to seal my game ending push. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9962903 Cyber Dragons vs Traptrix (2-0) I lose the RPS and go second. His deck is meh, but I play dumpster fire terrible, still winning despite numerous misplays and atrocious blunders. https://imgur.com/wslRKHV Nothing much to say here. Game 2 I win because my monsters are better than his traps and card advantage is cool. |

The Notetaker | #23 | Fri May 10, 2019 2:36 AM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9982641Cyber Dragons vs Altergeist (2-1) Game 1 I win the RPS and go second to their silq protocol, but no faker, opening. It is weak enough I easily bait silq and their backrow before using overflow to clear what was left for an easily winning position. Was betting against kunquery for an otk attempt a good plan, or was I safe enough to make a controlling play? Didn’t seem likely they had kun. They scoop before we find out. https://imgur.com/tAJ5Th1 Focused on the starters, wanted my mst and reboot, not sur eif going first or second, didn’t go for pankra, trimmed out my instants, an ash, and the infinites, made the curious pick of cutting an overflow. Wanted to keep my main starters, thought IF was the least needed and awkward to EMZ fit vs a deck with silq, but idk if that was correct Game 2 I brick, they didn’t quick scoop, they choose first for what it’s worth. https://imgur.com/kWkUvan No changes, thought about ash in for the pots or something, pankra is cool, but I didn’t go for it. Game 3 He marions into manifestation, idk why, and sets two others. They get spoofing twitwied on activation and I take out the set infinite, which I expected to be protocol. Bad plays are bad and a simple sieger rampage otk wraps it up. Did I leave my GY empty at a bad time, given my repair plant went dead for a turn? Thought there might have been better sequencing to go off of there. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9982842Cyber Dragons vs Darklords My deck is better, ash em game 1 and them winning the RPS to start doesn’t mean much when I otk. https://imgur.com/Hqv97Y8 Thoughts on this siding? Game 2 doesn’t go much better for them, flimsy opening meets cyber boards, he can stop my otk plan, but I have control of the board. Again, curious on my sequencing. IF earlier might have been good, not sure if it changed my plays. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9983334Cyber Dragons vs Salamangreat (2-0) This match made me cry, I did so much stupid stuff, summoning into their wolf’s zone, not seeing called, forgetting sieger was in GY for a bit, though I made it through anyways. Overall just tired, made lots of errors, would love to hear feedback. I take game 1 with a clean rampage otk, but should have used twitwi tossing herz in order to get cyber dragon in hand so that my other herz would have a secure shot if it got ashed. Instead if it did, I was in way more trouble. They didn’t have it and I took the game. https://imgur.com/jalTXeO Made some choices in case I went first, thoughts? Was just fine going second, but still. Game 2 I chip away, get trolled by super poly, and have a surprise kill I didn’t see until I was finishing up. So many choices I probably missed. Felt there were outlet with a rampage kill using the searchable fusion spell, but too tired to go over and see if I could make it a kill by only swinging with it. |

This is what I have chosen to do for now, and so I will do it. |

The Notetaker | #25 | Fri May 10, 2019 3:49 PM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9993928True Draco (0-2) Got paired against someone that is likely a solid player. Lost RPS to go second, and got flooded and backed by strike for the brutal shielding. Twitwi could not save me. Guy had the sly idea of holding back dinomight so he could use erupt in chain and still be able to chain the strike while dinomight was on the chain with erupt. Seemed weird at first, but pretty sure it was correct, waiting to dinomight the on field soldier eff rather than the in hand eff. https://imgur.com/sBUMuIK Hardcore siding pls help. Got wrecked game 2 by another solid opening, thought about ashing desires, but figured they would get their spell, would rather hit any open demise instead, or heritage for 3. They end up getting duality for the strike again, OP. Didn’t end up mattering, no side drawn, wouldn’t have saved me, and my attempt to dodge any early erupt by using sieger instead of core so I might slip in a genius failed when they flipped TCBOO instead. Doubt core for a trap would save me vs a deck with backrow removal that cared little about overflow’s search or a hand with strike. In other works, I got wrecked. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-9994440Salamangreat (0-2) I win RPS and go second. They open fragile with gazelle as their only card, but I have nothing and they go on. I open double twitwi and try to out the backrow, but it ends up getting eaten by their counter trap and a meh cosmic cyclone. R.i.P. me. My play is for soldier herz, but maybe a core attempt would have been better, idk. I did not expect disruption, but their veiler snapped my play. https://imgur.com/XjldsUL Not sure how I feel, twitwi for msts. Cutting infinite, not sure if that was good plan, trying to get reboots, etc. In the end game 2 makes little difference, a solid open and triple backrow, I mst the roar but get hit by called infinite on my soldier herz play, I try herz link 1 since I feel soldier is already the weaker end and they could stop it if they cared enough anyways, but the double shot, mostly called, rips apart the rest of my hand and I fold. Thoughts: Is Twitwi really that good? I’m liking to out stuff, but mst maybe is just better, I want a clean shot, and when the discard isn’t proving useful, which is fairly fringe, I’d rather hold on to the card for other pushes rather than out a random set, or just get eaten by a counter trap/disruption piece for such spell effects. How helpful in the kaiju? I have yet to want to search it or need it, might be time to cut/side it. Backrow threats, not monsters, are proving my undoing. How good is infinite? A part of what was said earlier, card has constantly been sided out, but is cute vs salads, I guess. Maybe card isn’t so much bad, but it is underperforming so far. |

Preferring single target to multi target removal since most targets would be single option and most threats are straight negation for it, so getting the extra target isn't worth the discard, even if semi synergetic. Still need to give it a spin, will probably be making changes if I get the chance to test, just giving my initial thoughts at the outset and keeping my salamangreats somewhat updated. |

They don’t get their mine set-up until I special. I manage to get my overflow to resolve and win when they oked it. They tried to argue and rage quit when they realized I was right. The only real note is that token flooding is getting really annoying. Really thinking of finding a link for that. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10093235Cyber Dragons vs Salamangreat (2-1) Game 1 I open very strong after winning the RPS go second, cosmic and mst prove better than twin twisters here as they force his trap and let me otk. Did soldier herz as bait, but trying core first and then using herz to grab it back if things went south may have been better. Ended up otking, but a way to not risk having to trigger his link monster would have been ideal. Should probably rewatch this again to see what I could improve. https://imgur.com/LaAAjV1Really nice siding… for going second. Ended up cutting hand traps and going in on backrow hate. Game 2 was my fault for not prepping for going first with more disruption, keep the Instants and hand traps, don’t put in the reboots, etc. I didn’t have enough power and ended up getting beat pretty good, goofed my life total with cosmic awkwardly, mst would have been so much nicer. https://imgur.com/8EAm75B Keep the side, is a great go second. He opens weak, I open strong. I have the reboot for the set so save the pankra in case I go to grind vs hand traps. He flops and I win upon my machine dupe resolution. |

I should have added the trap instead, and seen I couldn’t otk, but I was dumb and went for the spell, which proved to be of little value at all. Well full blown retard on my end and forgot to check basic genius rulings. Decided to call a judge instead of double checking the double negation. The judge proceeds to mess up on an unrelated issue of chalice, but ultimately gets the issue right, which is just awkward for everyone. Sigh. Guess I’ll apologize to the judge for my attitude, they may have been wrong, but I was still in the wrong as well, and that’s just not ok by me. https://imgur.com/HB83RDXJust got wrecked by floodgates game 2, but maybe should have seen if I would try and negate my way with genius. They try to BS refusal my chance to think, and then it ended up not mattering. I would win easily and they end up quitting as their hand was trash. |

Guy isn’t familiar with his deck and def doesn’t know cybers. He pops my nova and gets rampage otked. The real question is when to have used foolish, early to bait ash? Should I have dumped core or nachster, core gives added grind power, nachster is an added push. Did not expect my otk shot. https://imgur.com/zruRV4k Went for the hand traps to stay for turn 1 disruption, thinking I might go first. I end up going second game 2 and misplay by using core under his counter trap, which they overlook. I tried to see if I could bait a veiler on core so if I used it for megafleet I’d have a named cyber dragon for sieger. As it happens, that was an error and I am lucky they forgot their counter trap was dead, instead core ate an ash. I end up having overload to otk with sieger rampage again, otking them in one turn both games. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10158670Cyber Dragons vs Madolches (1-1, win match on their DC) I lose RPS and go second, but decide to make Pleiades to recoup my guy and have a threat. As it so happens their pankratops eats that idea alive. I use my eff to force it to do something but he lets it go to hand. As it turns out getting that Pleiades out is awkward. I have enough resources to easily dominate the field, ripping out his bluffed backrow with an overflow while forgetting to search off my trap effect. I had so many resources I ended up taking it anyways, but bad plays are bad. https://imgur.com/Jcn3Str Bad siding is bad, was 100% going first with two go seconds facing off, he wasn’t likely to try and bluff a go first plan with that deck. Should have gotten rid of the spell/trap removal and use more hand traps, etc. Game 2 I lose to otk, not sure what to ash, so hit an OPTed angelly and let them madolche lock, but I get called. He kills me. https://imgur.com/Jcn3Str Trim a bit of spell/trap hate but go in with pankras, not sure if they will surprise floodgate me somehow. Honestly think I hyped that idea too much, my core can out floodgates what am I afraid of? More likely should be fearing their otks, and kept up hand traps/engine pieces after choosing second. Poor call on my end, but they DC and I win the match by default, odds having been in my favor due to finally going second, but still, they had a full game to still gut me. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10159754Cyber Dragons vs Altergeist (1-0) Game 1 they win RPS and get their pot ashed. They still have faker set-up. I bait silq with my link and poop out machine dupe for what wouldn’t quite get game if they GOSR the sieger and melu for 500 off. Think it goes to infinity vs their faker/melu search and super poly. R.I.P. Hopefully they didn’t run megafleet/fortress or banished them. Their DC makes it an unknown stand-off, but I should have grabbed core off of herz for any back-up now that I think about it. Or was there a better field to make that couldn’t chance a game shot but would hold up vs their counterplay better? |

I get the start by winning RPS and see no extra. Wondering if mine burn but ends up being Draco. I get cosmic off extravagance only to use it to disiples pop. I hold them off by using a linkubiroh to bait ignis with strike and get faker set up. I use the faker to get to melu and put down a silq to keep down any annoying floodgates. They find themselves short on options and as melu cuts off cards an ash no diagram proves disastrous for them. I grind them into dust. https://imgur.com/a0bKkXA Bye solemns, cute as they can be, throw off a protocol and one for one and in goes my spell/trap hate package of half a dozen cards. No evenly in side, they prep too much for it and the card seems to be weak overall vs other decks. Game 2 they get the start and my melu faces the wrath of their solemn judgment. I avoid letting them trigger, seeing as they would gain off of ignis if I played my duality. A set trap eats the wiretap I saw off of their error, but in any case the card proves unable to allow the ignis to add. I try to marion and the guy floodgates. They mess up and forget to sue ignis as link 2, but I figure duality will have to grab something anyways, and in goes unending nightmare, shredding their field spell, floodgate, and just baiting them well all together. I grind them to dust as they try to use their trap to decent effect to troll my plays, but they run out of gas and I finish them off. Thought: Maybe a third duality for consistency would be good. Or maybe a desires instead, failing with extravagance but working with future dualitys. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10163359Cyber Dragons vs Mystic Mine Burn (1-0 lost to DC) Game 1 I win RPS second. As it is, focus on disruption since I’ll likely go first, no need for spell/trap hate. I end up making a play, get disrupted, they can’t deal with my field quite right through my own disruption and I finish the job awkwardly the next turn. Think there might have been better ways to play around future disruption, was not feeling the ways I was gunning for. |

Fortunately, not how it goes. Have to call a judge for the guy trying to force his play when I told him to wait, and the ensuing rage quit when the judge made them back up. They have little power though and I clean them up easily enough. Turns out they played both evenly and sekka, too much tech fluff, too little power. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10222655Altergeist vs Danger Thunder Dragon (2-1) I flop despite winning the RPS to go first, he flops harder, danger vanilla sticks do nothing. https://imgur.com/niSzd5uGame 2 they start. Phant is eh as they drop the spider, I do sneak a veiler in, but they combo too hard. Still, their hand was crazy strong, so idk if I want to say phant did all that bad. https://imgur.com/fKEwtwX Forgot to use the screen in siding, here is what I sided in total from the main. I start but eat two ashes, one on melu, one on faker, but my manifestation on melu keeps me afloat. A veiler on his batteryman cuts them off cold, and soon I out grind them as my engine goes on full throttle. His attempts to bait me fail and I win cleanly. |

I don’t side since I have no idea what I’m facing. In hindsight backrow hate may have been a safe bet, but who knows.
Game 2 they start, combo and easily disrupt ftw. [url:p1824omu]https://imgur.com/voj6LSt[/url:p1824omu] Get those called in.
Game 3 I open strong going first but a Gnomaterial gets me pretty good and I get screwed up, my field pushed over, but I used a disruption earlier than I think I should have, not being particularly familiar with orcust, don’t seem to see them much. Thoughts? We both misplay and miss stuff a lot, and my endgame plops out both luckwise and playwise, so notes on better plays I could have made would be appreciated, both in combo building and in the interactive stage. Still in that dumb phase you get when you are trying to piece together how the deck works and you miss obvious stuff in the process of thinking elsewhere.
Think I'm at the point where I at least can solve what cards are for at a reasonable enough level to start editing around some, but we'll see. I have a few questions to mull over. |

I forget I had burned a nova and had infinity in, and try to go for a double rank 5 play with nachster, only to see that they strike the first nova to get rampage otked, which the spell I add allows me to do, though the best play was to just make sieger, and add something else, a follow-up or overflow, then have rampage killed regardless. You want to get on my bad side, the whole group of "all people playing the same decks, meta sheep," group do it. Bonus points if you don't even know the rules of this game. That's my saltfest, and yeah, I was def not nice to them. I think having someone look down on people for playing the "trendy deck" is pathetic. I make plenty of misplays, and def noting some trends on my errors I'll have to pick up on.
In hindsight, while I still hate such users, I need to cool down. I can't let them get to my head. Apologized to them afterwards and explained the link issue. I think typing these things up helps, because even if I'm pissed, when I look back, how intelligent do I really feel bashing a user? For what, hating a deck/people? Am I any better for then counterhating them? |

Not the best disruption vs combo decks and not great going second vs many of them either. It's sided for the particular match-ups altergeists struggle with due to their floodgates. Trap trick is a card I have seen in some builds, but it leaves you far too open to evenly and reboot, especially now that we don't use mind crush atm. Using 2 manifestation is an unfortunate trend under trap trick, I am glad I no longer need desires so I could trim it to 1 and open it less. Why do you play Altergeist Camouflage? The card has not seen much success, to the point where it is not even mentioned in lists playing altergeists as a card. It doesn't serve as negation and while its protection is cute we do already have an effect to bring it back we have enough of already, (manifestation). It would be hard enough to justify 1, let alone 3. Without a way to proactively send it to the GY, witch of the black forest is not a very good card. I'm not sure why you are not running clara to trigger it with this in mind for going second. Duality has been a known staple in altergeist for a long time, run in topping list after list. It adds essential consistency both to the actual engine and to the trap cards used to support it. Consistency is a must for altergeists, and we do not rely on our special summon heavily on the first turn. if we can special summon, then we are in a good place and I will be happy to leave my duality dead, as my engine is already functioning. But my disruption is made on backrow which does not get cut off by duality, and the fakers summoned on the opposing turn rather than my own early on. It is essentially what witch of the black forest wished it could be, a way to get to your needed cards turn 1, while unable to directly go for the monsters, it will snatch for something. Your sideboard only having 8 cards is astonishing for a deck that needs its side to face so many decks. Hand traps are a must for going second and to play under reboot. Inspector boarder as an out to the mirror is a bit outdated with alts falling back, not to mention pankratops being such a savage out when played, a card I only recently dropped. Boarder being cute going first under backrow as a stall method reboot could not out was a path that had crossed my mind and been used in other formats, but seems weaker now. I have focused my sideboard on holding the stronger spell/trap removal, hand traps, and board breakers for particular match-ups. Hey trunade, while nifty on backrow like that of sky strikers, is not going to intimidate many decks to that degree. You may gain a mild position with a melu poke or so, but their reestablishment will punish you. I am curious to see what it has done for you, as I'd think straight removing the backrow to be better. I would suggest playing ningirsu in the extradeck, as it can out untargetable threats at only 3 monsters usage and without a battle phase unlike borreload's 4 and BP. Needing say, a linkuriboh and a knightmare with the altergeist is not much of an issue for a deck with a root in melu and so many different names, might even get a co-linked pop and draw, lol. |

The Notetaker | #97 | Sat Jun 1, 2019 3:36 PM | Delete | https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10429429Cyber Dragon Draft Vs Salamangreat (1-2) My opponent wins game 1 and starts us off with a very secure engine with dweller, ash, and a set roar. I know the roar is set and see dweller go off, but it means little. I easily disable the trap by taking out the wolf. They do not realize repair plant is my vulnerability, (not that they should, given I have numerous starters and normal summons that all could have made ash on such a card dead.) Once I have core effect activated, it is pretty much over. I grab an unneeded fusion spell and easily force their ash with my IRS. An overload sieger otk wraps it up nicely. https://imgur.com/vqc9c6F I side ready to star, getting disruption to maintain control. I am surprised game 2 to see them choose to start, but most of my disruption works going second as well. I draw none of it. I have an opening fragile to lacking a cyber, but draw nachster. I am glad to see the card, it being a special letting me using my repair plant to get core, but it gets striked, ruining my plans. I am only left wit a megafleet and they establish strong disruptive control to win it. https://imgur.com/ef0rjD4 I switch out the ashes and trap disruption, leaving veielrs as they are not OPTed and can hit wolf. I quickly see they opened strong with some sets, but draw no cybers. I do not fault the techs in the deck for this, as I maintained a high cyber count, but drew none of my names. Such hands are never going to work short of numerous level 5 techs to make infinity without using any cybers, an improbable task. A brick is a brick. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10429974Cyber Dragon Draft vs Bad Lightsworn Mix (2-0) They win RPS and make me start. I infinity with herz under it. No mained overflow makes my core a bit weak. I stop their solar and consider if I can make a better field, but decide to keep infinity. They have nothing worth noting and scoop. https://imgur.com/HOkhMyM Go for some disruption, no need to take risks. They start weak, easy otk. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10430246 Cyber Dragon Draft vs Pendulums I win RPS and go second to them opening insane. I push, but can’t break the field, despite running through many negation. https://imgur.com/f6yUf3BGame 2 I side to start, but I think I misplay in my disruption, under valuing my trap to take care of his stick, and popping phoenix instead of letting it stay as a thorn. They go for damage but screw up and fail, I manage to finish the job, misplaying, but still getting the kill. https://imgur.com/chI5uNV I mistaken side to go second, I should have kept spell/trap hate over IRS, which would have taken game 3, oh well. They choose me to start and break through my ash infinity, eating ash with cerb and I get my infinity baited by pankratops. I end up getting pushed over as they just squeak over with ravine, and so go off. Dead IRS costs me. |

Easy win. https://imgur.com/EvmErJSGame 2 no hand traps, but they do a garden opening and stall themselves out. Poorly played match overall, but their poor technical skill allowed me to take what probably should have been a lost match. |

The Notetaker | #99 | Sat Jun 1, 2019 11:17 PM | Delete | A constant struggle for me is dealing with people who don't use the resource they have to effectively confirm rulings they have no business not knowing, especially when confronted by such resources. (As opposed to just making a simple mistake and after a google check fixing it.) It does me no good to lash out and break down these players though, all it will do is make things worse for everyone. It was a struggle I recently had in the prior duel, and while the player played poorly and made many mistakes, I let things accelerate beyond what they needed to. I later apologized. Just another post to remind myself of what I'm trying to do. To see my failings and work to improve them. |

(1-0, 1-0) Back to back singles wins going second after losing the RPS and winning game 1. I misplay the combo, failing to use my silent boots for fodder to set up my link for the counter trap and most effectively control the field. I still win due to their deck being so weak to me ashing metaverse, from the looks of things. https://imgur.com/FfhRMrA I’m so tired I side out called by the grave for pankratops vs the deck that keeps no monsters. Yikes. Take the next game with easy stage freezing and combo with ash on metaverse again. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10457652Trickstar Orcust vs Artifacts? (1-0) Another singles bout. I take the RPS win, which goes a good way to me winning the duel right there, easily swarm and despite brain farting on my counter trap, I think getting it for protection was a good idea given my overwhelming disruption count making it unlikely they would swarm in a way that needed the card removal plan, more likely to meet some evenly to troll me than that. Still, I think this deck could use some work to improve the chances of opening a playable hand that nets both the trap and field spell play. Still need to practice that silly combo, lol. |

I lost RPS all 4 times, haha, but they didn’t have powerful turn 1 fields. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10485201Salamangreat Draft vs Thunder Dragons (1-0) They bricked and I didn’t, they scoop. Mulling over my link choices a bit, and the second tested stallion for the list, but no real conclusions yet. Realize counter trap set-up is better to hold up brick since I need no special damage output. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10485310Salamangreat Draft vs Altergeists (1-0) They set 5, have a spoofing but end up rage quitting when I start making plays. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10485378Salamangreat Draft vs Combo Deck (1-0) He bricks on garnet, but draws ash and GOSR. I use foxy, they ash, I mindlessly called but tbh should have let it through, I easily have an otk under ash and could hit a more important hand trap later. They goofed a GOSR but I ignore it and plow over it for an otk anyways. The foxy getting fusion of fire by accident was cute, but having fennec access made the hand otkable without called on ash. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10485629Salamangreat Draft vs Mine Burn (1-0) They start with chain energy, making me think burn, so I hold on to cosmic for the possible mine, ends up taking the game for me as I break the rest of the field. |

Anyhow, I otk them with what seems to be a strong hand with a ton of resources. I am a bit worried about the thunder dragon density, that needs some figuring, might be high, but I like thunder dragon fusion. Still, if I’m not using many other spell/traps other than allure vs sarc, it may be better to go with sekka’s light in the main for the easy +1 reshuffle. Heard of a little dragon that may be worth using with guardragons, saw a list with spell canceler. More and more handy ideas, will run by my side when I get used to the main, want to make sure I better understand my combos. Otked without doing the math and thought I needed borrelsword, lel. Yikes. Need to decide how to use the guardragon pisty, if I want to triple burst to justify it or not, or just use it as a play over-styled card effect. Think I’m comfortable enough to get a grip for what kind of fields they make, we’ll see. |

Misplays for days, I start with rock and take the single going first. I nearly miss my mandatory effect, probably sequence into skull dread poorly, and think I may like the guardragon play with that little dragon who can discard and add, Omni Dragon Brotaur. Would allow the play to create the bosses a bit easier. I still end on multiple monsters that troll their plays, but it could have been played better. [YGOCARD]Thunder Dragon[/YGOCARD] Fusion for Titan is nice. Use it to wipe board, though that was an overkill mission, will need to think how needed that is. Their engine wasn't really important, just there to watch the solitare. |

The Notetaker | #120 | Mon Jun 10, 2019 1:19 PM | Delete | Been considering using high level dangers, either in main, or side, particularly for going second, as level 8 is best danger level in thunder dragon danger builds and their stats for the best for attacking without executing disruption vulnerable plays. Also, their pop effects are solid going second for outing annoying issues when you discard them, hence the go second thoughts for the sideboard rather than the main. |

He opened dyna, which trolls this deck, lel. Thinking this build is a bit unstable vs rogue. Brokenness is cute, but when many decks can take going first wins, how good is it really? Easy win long live paper for letting me start. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10650925Thunder Dragon Danger vs Mekks (1-0) I choose scissors, stupid me, and lose, only to get chosen to go first. I make field and win. But I goofed, should have gone for dark into hawk for more resources, but thought roar was better. I failed to account for my lack of link plays here. https://www.duelingbook.com/replay?id=407264-10651182Thunder Dragon Danger vs Salamangreat (1-0) I choose scissors again, ugh, and lose. This time they start with some negation, but I run through their counter trap and ash to make a field they scoop before I finish. |

The Notetaker | #124 | Fri Jun 14, 2019 10:03 PM | Delete | Had a busy day yesterday. Anyways, some brief business. https://imgur.com/YRfcopTGoing to move this to my storage, don't feel like messing with it atm. Still not sure how they solve their floodgate issues and make too many easy auto-losses. Might come back to it later, but a deck being unfair only means so much, everyone has unfair interactions these days, you have to be able to take it as well as dish it out. Still have things I did poorly on, but I don't get the impression this deck fixes its problems. |

The Notetaker | #125 | Sun Jun 16, 2019 7:11 PM | Delete | Been a bit inactive lately, used a casual account on duelingbook for a bit, but anyways. Calling another blitz series, where I just go at it for th games, get the feel back. |

The Notetaker | #126 | Sun Jun 16, 2019 9:25 PM | Delete | Been working on making some standardized lists for testing purposes. Since they are not my testing builds or even always placed on The Notetaker, the decision to place them here is still being thought over, and if I do, to do it in imgur stamps like before, or use the duelingbook deck updates for the regular screens. Even if I'm posting them one at a time or in a group is in question, and when. |

The Notetaker | #127 | Mon Jun 17, 2019 2:44 AM | Delete | https://imgur.com/CkEtG4j A casual build trying to make use of the dangers to filter into the blue-eyes ritual through their effects, making skull dread, etc. The 3s with the lv 1 tuner had a cute interaction with herald. The spells could be set and discarded rituals even grabbed back. Just thought I'd drop it here. |

The Notetaker | #129 | Sat Jun 22, 2019 4:44 AM | Delete | Still been fairly inactive, but kept thinking about how I wanted to use the same cards regardless of the deck. Patterns that hit decks even if I had not confirmed that they worked. Too many standalone techs without regard for what the deck should have been doing. |

The Notetaker | #130 | Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:17 PM | Delete | https://imgur.com/ADSGwah Been inactive again, just wasn't up to doing as much Yugioh I guess. Hopefully I'm back. Going to just get back into the feel of salamangreat, mess with a few things. |

The Notetaker | #131 | Tue Jul 2, 2019 11:27 AM | Delete | Well, we've passed July 1, the no soon than date. This means the list could come at any time. With that in mind I plan on mulling over my plans for the next format. Plans on activity, and my notes for my posts here for the next format. I plan on reformatting a bit. Early issues involved the overfocus on individual games that did less, not following the decks enough even though I did some practice, and a lack of overall activity in the format. |

The Notetaker | #132 | Wed Jul 3, 2019 10:59 AM | Delete | While posting replays, remove the in-game notes for average games. General themes are nice, but these specific notes are best for significant games or anything particularly important about the matches worth directly remembering in the future. Important patterns, etc. The replays can always be watched to acquire such information as the score, opponent, etc. but the record is hardly worth following as opponents vary in skill, as does personal gameplay with the deck. Even deck modifications can be clean from image to image, focusing on general things. Listing general techs are ok, things being tested.
Focus on increasing the game count early, quantity>quality. The practice from the format with various ideas are better than focusing on quality when ratings are irrelevant, and games are of questionable value with opponents regardless. Dozens of meh games are better than 3 goo ones early on, quality comes later as ideas form and comfort with the format is established.
Get unrated games with people you know or learn about. Search for experts to practice with to get specific ideas focused on. Random opponents are valuable in most cases, but sometimes ideas must be focused on.
While the format is ending, focus on practicing under it a bit more, this is to maintain practice with the cards and for staying in shape for when the next format rolls around to start it running out the game. When the new F/L list is released, work out what decks will likely be meta and establish potential builds and ideas. |

The Notetaker | #133 | Thu Jul 4, 2019 3:47 PM | Delete | https://imgur.com/ADSGwah Old Salamangreat List -3 Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay +3 Infinite Impermanence https://imgur.com/cpqn9NR Current List Tbh, after doing some testing elsewhere, I'm realizing phant can really suck. It is so sub-par going first and going second you don't even always draw into a hand trap, etc. Would rather just use a real disruption like infinite. Even sky strikers can get kagari negated. But yeah, the stick isn't great, the draws aren't always the best, even fi the filtering is nice, and the weakness to ash is mildly irritating, though eating ash in general is nice, so I won't hold that against it too much. Rather than use a filter, just use a good draw. Card is a cute advantage piece, but it just doesn't get the job done for dealing with combo decks, the big reason to need hand traps, and generally if they aren't comboing why do you need it, some decks like draco not using links just makes this more annoying. |
