This fact makes me wonder if there are certain decks and strategy that can run more than 40 cards and still be as good as decks running 40 cards. (Outside of degenerate strategy that mills your opponents to death of course) |

Brilliand | | #2 | Sat Oct 10, 2026 8:55 AM | | Delete | It's very hard for a deck with more than 40 cards to overcome the consistency advantage that you get from having only 40 cards in your deck. Even decks that want to stall to deck out the opponent, and decks that want to self-mill to get as many cards in their GY as possible, will play a 40-card deck with specific cards to save themselves from decking out rather than play a larger deck for a larger buffer.
Having a larger deck is mostly just something you do when you haven't put in the effort to trim out the cards from your deck that aren't helping quite as much with your deck's gameplan. |
