I'd like to suggest a feature that I think would add a lot of motivation to ranked play: trophies, badges or banners that players can earn and display on their profile.
E.g.:
- End-of-format ranking badges: at the end of each format, before the ratings reset with the new banlist, players receive a badge showing the position they reached (e.g. "Top 200", "Top 50", "Top 10", or even the exact rank for the top spots). This way, a good season leaves a permanent record instead of disappearing with the reset.
- Peak rating badges: a separate category based on the highest rating ever reached (e.g. 1400+, 1700+), so players can show their best achievement regardless of the current ranking.
This would reward both consistency over a season and peak performance. It would also give players a long-term goal and make profiles more interesting to look at.
