Tournament Organizer Hiring Wave March 2019

Post #1 by Genexwrecker » Mon Mar 11, 2019 5:20 pm

We are now Looking to Hire official Tournament hosts to host official Duelingbook tournaments.

What is a Tournament Organizer(TO) & Goal

Tournament Organizers are the face of tournaments on Duelingbook and host tournaments for users who play on the site to participate in and have fun on their own free time.

The Goal is to build a Team that can host weekly to the point where Daily tournaments are commonplace.

What are the requirements to Become a Tournament Organizer?

1.) A positive Duelingbook history(This means not having been frozen or not having any negative history for a long time)

2.) A More than average understanding of the rules and mechanics of the game along with KDE policy(This includes PSCT comprehension and an understanding of conjunctions and ability to find information quickly on the ready)

3.) Able to host at least 2 times a week and have 3-4 hours available when you do host.

4.) A sense of urgency

5.) Be able to communicate and work with a team other Tournament organizers are your partners and you should all listen to what each other has to say.

6.) Don't be afraid of asking for help(when you don't understand something the ability to ask for help is essential it's not something you should be ashamed of) Even judges don't know everything and we look to each other for assistance the same goes for The tournament organizers.

What is to be expected of you?

1.) Be active not only as a host but on Duelingbook as well let that community know you are there and that you are fun.

2.) Be willing to lend assistance to listen to requests from users about their unofficial tournaments and give advice or even offer to help them host it or judge it.

3.) Be respectful. I cannot stress this enough but you need to be respectful to not only users but other staff as well. As a TO you are held to a higher standard than regular users and that should reflect when you host and engage with users.

4.) Don't disappear. If you for some reason are unable to host for an extended period Let us know so we can take appropriate measures.

**1.) Why do you want to become a tournament organizer?**
I wanna host tourneys and see the DB scene grow closer

**2.) Do you have any prior history hosting tournaments?**
Yes. Have hosted many tourneys on DB (32+ players), hosted tourneys for other groups including Cloud Kingdom, Khan Kingdom, Chaos Zone. Am a current host for Snow's CCF.

**3.) What are your thoughts on duelingbook?**
Pretty good. Has some issues with shuffler and random dc's imo (but ) Better than DN.

**4.) What kind of knowledge do you have regarding the games rules and mechanics?**
Know 99% of all rulings. 1% may be gozen, rivalry, tcobo interactions

**5.) Are you willing to do a voice chat interview?**
Prefer not to, but I can.

**6.) What do you yourself have to offer and what Ideas do you have To change up tournaments?**
Previous formats (edison, dragon ruler etc). Round Robins or what not. More advanced ideas for later.

**7.) Why Should I hire you above the others who apply?**
I have experience and can make myself available pretty well. I am also very organised and will not have any tourneys hosted at a late time or in disorder.

**8.) Are you fine with a 10 tournament Trial period To determine if you should stay as a TO and be granted Full TO status in game on duelingbook to interact with your tournament games?**
Yes.

**9.) If you make mistakes are you willing to learn and improve?**
Yes.

**10.) Do you enjoy Yu-gi-oh The trading card game and if so what aspects of it?**
Yes, although not as much as I did before. Game's gotten way too fast nowadays but I do appreciate the new AT's that are released w/their "unique" play styles

1.) Why do you want to become a tournament organizer?
Because I want to contribute to the Hosting angle of Tournaments, and developing new tournaments to progress change, and attract attention.

2.) Do you have any prior history hosting tournaments?
Yes, I have experience hosting on DuelingNetwork as Itachi_The_Murderer aka Sasuke_The_Avenger for over 80 Tournaments. They were awhile ago if that means anything, but my rulings are still up to date.

3.) What are your thoughts on duelingbook?
I feel it has a lot of potential, specifically for Wars, and for Tournaments, if the right investments of increasing the attendance and interest are taken, and met I feel this can become a great scene for players, and hosts to enjoy.

4.) What kind of knowledge do you have regarding the games rules and mechanics?
Do you seriously got to ask? I can explain what happens, and I know how to use the logs on the site to ensure a maintained gamestate, and constantly check it during matches, during tournaments I would be checking it even more frequently.
Edit: I just took the DB Admin Exam for my first time out of pure boredom, and got a 85% without trying hard at all.

5.) Are you willing to do a voice chat interview?
Yes, when I find a way to do so. Probably via Cell Phone's Discord.

6.) What do you yourself have to offer and what Ideas do you have To change up tournaments?
I offer myself, and while I know I can be toxic at times, I am working on changing that. I understand it may take awhile, and people tend to be offended for me posting n* in DuelingBook sometimes, and also how I fight with people. I tend to get a bit out of hand, and tend to misread stuff posted when my emotions get added. I also do not believe rape should ever be joked about by any staff, but then again I am a wannabe posting n* in discord, so I am no better, still I offer to work to remove that from my vocabulary outright, and work to be a positive staff member if selected.
I offer new change to the scene, new ideas, and above all interaction with the players to see what formats they want to see, and if I can make them happen, as I feel the participants should have some feedback on events they want to see in the future. I also love hosting GOAT if people still got an interest.

7.) Why Should I hire you above the others who apply?
You really shouldn't because no one seems to "like me" but as far as doing the Job, I can guarantee it gets done to the fullest and I will actively look for ways to improve the scene whether I am picked or not.

8.) Are you fine with a 10 tournament Trial period To determine if you should stay as a TO and be granted Full TO status in game on duelingbook to interact with your tournament games?
9001%

9.) If you make mistakes are you willing to learn and improve?
Yes always, I love learning new things. I can admit to being wrong as well.

10.) Do you enjoy Yu-gi-oh The trading card game and if so what aspects of it?
I enjoy the game, not so much the players however because they get toxic over stats, and wait 30+ mins for a Judge because opponent is AFK, and I see those types as time wasters. Mostly why I bounce between DuelingNexus, and DuelingBook. Personally I believe Nexus is better because it gauges the ability to use all your cards/effects, even if you forget you can and that makes misplaying harder. An element that I feel brings the real skill to the game.

1.) Why do you want to become a tournament organizer?
I feel as if I can be of service to the Tournament Organizers of Dueling Book and to Dueling Book itself.
Especially in organization aspects, forum-wise, and presenting new opportunities to help spark the popularity of Dueling Book.

2.) Do you have any prior history hosting tournaments?
Yes, I do. I've hosted 71 Tournaments on Dueling Book Forums.
https://pastebin.com/V29TLyyQ (70)
https://forum.duelingbook.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&p=25944 (71)
I've also acted formerly as an Official Tournament Organizer for Dueling Book, a Tournament Organizer for Dueling Nexus (before their Discord went to shit), and for other various small servers that are now defunct (Heaven's Arena, NADA).

3.) What are your thoughts on Duelingbook?
I personally enjoy certain aspects and I despise others.
It's half-and-half, but I wish certain functions user-wise within it were more organized.Excluding that, otherwise, it's fine.

4.) What kind of knowledge do you have regarding the rules and mechanics of the game?
I am an RC-1, PC-1, DC-1 Konami Certified Judge. I am Judge in Duelists Unite Discord. An Expert in The Ruling Zone, a Rulings Discord server, currently owned by a Dueling Book Head Administrator, The Exiled Tombstone/Lantern.

5.) Are you willing to do a voice chat interview?
I'm willing to voice chats, but not frequently. I rarely do video chats, since people have taken pictures of my face before and I wouldn't like any others to do so. While I personally don't think an official organizer would so, I think it's better to take precautions.
Usually I restrict video chats to people I know in real life. I personally prefer text chats.

6.) What do you yourself have to offer and what Ideas do you have To change up tournaments?
I have ideas for large scale tournaments like YCS Events that could be performed with my own USD.

7.) Why Should I hire you above the others who apply?
I feel as if I have a harder work ethic than other applicants as I feel as if I can dedicate time into tasks necessary and apply more than what is asked for. Additionally, I believe I can open opportunities to spark popularity to Dueling Book, especially towards the tournament Discord Server.

8.) Are you fine with a 10 tournament Trial period To determine if you should stay as a TO and be granted Full TO status on Duelingbook to interact with your tournament games?
I am fine with a trial period. I do personally think 10 is excessive, but if it is a necessity, I am 100% willing to abid by it.

9.) If you make mistakes are you willing to learn and improve?
I am, though, I would hope and ensure that I make few mistakes as possible.

10.) Do you enjoy Yu-gi-oh The trading card game and if so what aspects of it?
I enjoy certain aspects of the TCG Card Game. Mainly in-real life. In real life, the people are very interactive and very relatable in some aspects. For me personally, that's something I never though I would've imagined, entering the community in 2016.
