Custom Evolution Format

Custom Evolution Format is a new Custom Card Format that you can play exclusively on Dueling Book!

What makes it different from any other format out there is that this is the only Custom Card Format that can be balanced, because every card that is allowed is specifically made for it (there are also a few slight rule changes). The format is very new so it hasn't had enough testing to be all the way there but its already way more balanced than any other YGO format i've played...

The main point of this format is to provide the original YGO experience of creating your own unique deck combination and having strategic and interactive (emphasis on interactive) duels.

This format is not supposed to replace any other format. This is just an alternative way to play the game where you can enjoy playing with Custom Cards and not worry about ridiculously overpowered cards.

One thing to note is that this is NOT a place to send your custom archetypes that you've designed to work in the TCG! This is essentially a different game which you can create a deck in with the cards that are made for it but that doesn't mean that you can't send custom cards made by yourself to be added to the format if you adapt them to the format!

I know a lot of you have already spent a LOT of time working on your own archetypes and you are eager to use them but this is just not the place for it! There are numerous Custom Card TCG formats/discords you can join for that. This should be looked at as its own separate thing and you can enjoy it in addition to the TCG and other formats...



The Rules

Both players must include the 1 allowed copy of the card "Mana Vault" in their Deck and only use "Custom Evolution Format" legal cards. Complete list of legal cards accessed on duelingbook.com's Deck Construction by searching for cards with "Custom Evolution" in their description.

"Mana Vault" is activated from both players' Decks before the Duel starts.

At the start of the duel both players get 1 "Perfect Mulligan" which basically means they get 1 free Magical Mallet (they can shuffle any amount of cards and draw the same amount, just once).

Hand size limit is 8.

Monsters cannot attack during the turn they are Summoned, unless an effect allows them to.

If a player controls a monster(s) with a Taunt Counter, the opposing player's monster(s) can only declare attacks against that monster(s).

All other rules of the official YGO TCG remain unchanged.


About the format

So far our format has 175 cards specifically created for it and it is growing fast and you can also send cards made by YOU to be adapted and added to the format!

The cards themselves are mostly generic/type/attribute support but there are also small series of cards and also stand alone cards that you can build a deck around. As the card pool grows, so will the number of possible decks but big archetypes that you can almost complete a deck from are not planned because we want to give the players the ability to construct something unique so we are also giving different advantages/disadvantages to the different types and attributes.

To see the card pool you just go to dueling book's Deck Constructor and you search for all custom cards with "Custom Evolution" in their description.
