Deck Spotlight: 2020 Olympic Mascots

Post #1 by UberTrainerMinusInfinity » Tue Nov 08, 2022 9:28 pm

MIRAITOWA AND SOMEITY, THE TOKYO 2020 OLYMPIC MASCOTS
https://www.duelingbook.com/deck?id=11878600
Year of Origin: 2018, selected from 3 candidates.
Is it real?: Yes
Ace Monster: Future Eternity
The Main Races: Cyberse
The Main Attributes: WATER
Extra Monsters: Link
Attack: 4/5
Defence: 3/5
Strategy: 5/5
Intellect: 5/5
Luck: 5/5
THE STORY:
?????????????????? (They're Olympic Mascots. Do they really have a story outside of supporting the Olympics?)
STRATEGY:
Double team your opponent with Miraitowa and Someity, the attackers, nullifiers, and finishers all in one! With plenty of ways to get them out and running, you'll never forget an Olympic Mascot ever again!
Miraitowa gets rid of your opponent's monsters with a wide AOE attack that has piercing while Someity is out, and can negate effects and destroy monsters, while Someity deals the direct attack, who can negate the effects of all enemy monsters, and breathes life into Two-Pronged Attack!
Use the Olympics themselves to wash out your opponent, with Olympic Fencing and Olympic Surfing for removal, Paralympic Equestrian for searching and summoning, Paralympic Volleyball for counterattacks, and Olympic Table Tennis for summon negation! Each one gets stronger if you control the monster depicted on the art, (Miraitowa for Olympics, and Someity for Paralympics) but can search out Miraitowa and Someity if you don't!
Light the Olympic Flame by Linking two WATER Cyberse monsters together to form Future Eternity! Not only does it force your opponent to use exactly 2 materials for a summon if you bring it out with Miraitowa and Someity as materials, but it can also revive WATER Cyberse monsters, and give Miraitowa and Someity a permanent ATK boost!
KILLER COMBOS:
Miraitowa and Someity can bring the other mascot out for the low cost of banishing the top 5 cards of your deck face-down, but ONLY if they're Normal Summoned. Luckily, Olympic Equestrian allows you to Normal Summon any monsters you add, and it can add any monster those statlines are 1700/1000 or 1000/1700, allowing synergy for cards like Denko Sakka.
Being WATER Cyberse monsters, Miraitowa and Someity can be supported by many cards, such as the Code Talkers, the Marincesses, Spool Code, Torrential Reborn, and Cynet Mining.

To make searching for your archetype in the Deck Constructor easier, I recommend renaming your Miraitowa, Someity, and Future Eternity to Olympic Miraitowa, Paralympic Someity, and Lympic Eternity respectively.

Also, I recommend changing Miraitowa and Someity's default ATK to 2000 and default DEF to 200 as a reference to 2020 since this archetype is supposed to be based on the 2020 olympics.

I recommend these changes to each of those monsters to improve their readability.

Olympic Miraitowa
If an "Attack" Trap Card is activated and this card is on your field or GY: You can target 1 monster, also your opponent cannot activate that monster's effects in response to this effect's activation; destroy it. If your other Level 4 WATER Cyberse Effect Monster attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. When this card is Normal Summoned: Banish the top 5 cards of your Deck face-down; each player can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from their hand/Deck/GY in Attack Position, then if this effect Summoned a monster from the hand or GY, you can Set 1 "Attack" Trap from your Deck/GY, and if you do, it can be activated this turn.

Paralympic Someity
If an "Attack" Trap Card is activated and this card is on your field or GY: You can target 1 Spell/Trap, also if that card is Set, your opponent cannot activate it in response to this effect's activation; destroy it.

Lympic Eternity
2 WATER Cyberse Effect Monsters
Your opponent cannot Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Summon using 3 or more materials. If this card is Summoned: Target 2 cards on the field and/or GY; place them on top of the Deck in any order, and if 2 cards leave your field this way, you can Special Summon 1 WATER Cyberse Link Monster from your Extra Deck, and if you do, you can add up to 1 of your WATER Cyberse Effect Monsters each that are banished and in your GY to your hand. (This is treated as a Link Summon.)

Now I'd like to see if this archetype can work if it follows its sports/olympic game(s) theme more realistically, and if so, how cool that would be, so I'll suggest the following changes to the rest of your archetype.

Olympic Fencing
Add 1 of your "Lympic" monsters that is in your Deck, GY, or banished to your hand, and if you do, you can Special Summon to either field in Attack Position or destroy 1 "Fencing Fire Ferret" in your Deck, and if you do that, you can shuffle any number of your cards that are on your field, GY, and/or banished into the Deck, except the Summoned/sent card. You can only activate 1 "Olympic Fencing" per turn. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck the turn you activate this card, except WATER Cyberse Link Monsters.

Olympic Surfing
Add 1 each of your "Lympic" cards and "Inspector Boarder" that are in your Deck, GY, and/or banished to your hand. You can only activate 1 "Olympic Surfing" per turn. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck the turn you activate this card, except WATER Cyberse Link Monsters.

Paralympic Archery
Add 1 each of your "Lympic" monsters and "Arrow" Spells that are in your Deck, GY, or banished to your hand, and if you do, you can shuffle any number of your cards that are on your field, GY, and/or banished into the Deck, and if you do that, your opponent cannot Normal Summon/Set for the rest of this turn. You can only activate 1 "Paralympic Archery" per turn. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck the turn you activate this card, except WATER Cyberse Link Monsters.

Paralympic Equestrian
Add 1 each of your "Lympic" and "Horse" monsters that are in your Deck, GY, and/or banished to your hand, and if you do, you can shuffle any number of your cards that are on your field, GY, and/or banished into the Deck. You can only activate 1 "Paralympic Equestrian" per turn. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck the turn you activate this card, except WATER Cyberse Link Monsters.

Olympic Table Tennis
Add 1 each of your "Lympic" and "Ball" cards that are in your Deck, GY, and/or banished to your hand, and if you do, you can activate 1 "Extra Net" from your Deck or GY, and if you do that, you can shuffle any number of your cards that are on your field, GY, and/or banished into the Deck, except that card. You can only activate 1 "Olympic Table Tennis" per turn. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck the turn you activate this card, except WATER Cyberse Link Monsters.

Paralympic Volleyball
Add 1 each of your "Lympic" and "Ball" cards that are in your Deck, GY, and/or banished to your hand, and if you do, you can Set any number of "Desert Sunlight" from your Deck/GY to anywhere on the field, and if you do that, you can shuffle any number of your cards that are on your field, GY, and/or banished into the Deck, except the card(s) Set this way. You can only activate 1 "Paralympic Volleyball" per turn. You cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck the turn you activate this card, except WATER Cyberse Link Monsters.

With these changes, both Olympic Table Tennis and Paralymic Volleyball should be changed from counter traps to normal traps.

On the night of Christmas, all was calm
Til Christen57 spread his balm
Applying the changes here on this book
To make the mascots no longer a crook
The mascots were affected, their ATK boosts were gone
And their special effects were no longer turned on
Now they were pretty much the same
Miraitowa got rid of monsters, within this game
And Someity got rid of Spell/Traps, the only difference
And so did all the spells and traps like mince
They were all searchers for cards so strange
They had to splashed in on the range
Now the deck was nothing more
But WATER Cyberse support for the lore
But they still had their friendship together
And sometimes, on the tether
That's the only thing they'll need,
On this Christmas, they''ll never bleed!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

For Lympic Eternity, the part that says:
1 WATER Cyberse Link Monster
can actually be shortened further to:
1 WATER Link Monster

I also made a mistake with my suggestion to Olympic Fencing. Where I said it should be:
except the Summoned/sent card
it should actually be:
except the Summoned/destroyed card

The other mistake I made was with Paralympic Archery. Where it says:
for the rest of this turn
it should instead say:
until the end of their next turn except during Main Phase 2
