Deck Spotlight: CODE

Post #1 by UberTrainerMinusInfinity » Sun Oct 23, 2022 9:35 pm

CODE
https://www.duelingbook.com/deck?id=10613611
Year of Origin: 2012, as Project X: CODE
Is it real?: Yes, made by the same people who made The Magic Key!
Ace Monster: CODE Mechanoid Dragon
The Main Races: Machine
The Main Attributes: EARTH, FIRE, DARK, WIND
Extra Monsters: Link
Attack: 5/5
Defence: 2/5
Strategy: 4/5
Intellect: 5/5
Luck: 4/5
THE STORY:
Billionaire Macro Marvel has designed Micro World, supposedly the best theme park on earth! A theme park full of helpful robots and unique lands, where you have to shrink to get in. But on opening day, disaster strikes: CODE, the program that controls the park and the robots in it, has gone wrong, and now wants to shrink the whole world!
STRATEGY:
Use The Eye Of CODE to control the situation! When it is out, your CODE monsters gain the powers of the CODE monsters in your GY, and you can use your Spell/Trap cards to negate attacks and effects! In addition, if you get the correct 12 CODE monsters, the ones who managed the lands, and get to the end of your turn, you instantly win by shrinking your opponent!
Alternatively, you can use your CODE monsters to Link Summon some powerful monsters such as CODE Emperor and CODE Ultimate Mechanoid Dragon. Get the right power cards in your GY, such as CODE Cog Dog and CODE Chameleon, then watch as the damage flies by!
KILLER COMBOS:
Use any level 4 or lower monster to bring out CODE Alien Nok, who originates from Project X: Alien Adventures. Use his effect to search out The Eye Of CODE, then use it's searching ability to search out CODE Swoopie. Use Swoopie's effect to Special Summon itself from the hand for a good Link 2 such as CODE Sparrow, who can tribute summon a CODE monster from your hand using itself, or CODE Orbitron, who can revive CODE monsters and sets up for a powerful finisher such as CODE Emperor and CODE Ultimate Mechanoid Dragon!
Get CODE Cog Dog in your GY through cards such as CODE Calling Watch and CODE Scout, and, with The Eye Of CODE on your field, your monsters gain 500 ATK for each CODE monster in your GY!
Tribute summon CODE Swarmbots, and use it's effect to bring out 2 more of them from your deck! This can open up to CODE Orbitron, or, if CODE Hunter, CODE Commander, or CODE Cog Dog is in your GY with The Eye of CODE out, you can bring out CODE Emperor! Tribute Summon it using CODE Swoopie, who can Special Summon itself from your hand if you control The Eye Of CODE, or CODE Hunter, who can bring itself out from your hand if your GY has 4 or more CODE monsters, to bring it out with your Normal Summon!

So your archetype revolves around monsters that have continuous effects that apply in the graveyard... and one's got an effect that increase ATK by a multiple of 500...

In that case, all this archetype's monsters' default ATK should each be a multiple of 500 to make keeping track of such ATK easy, and all those effects that increase ATK should increase it by a multiple of 500 to keep things easy as well.

So here are the changes I recommend to your archetype's main/extra deck monsters to improve their readability and make them easier to play.

CODE Chameleon
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", each of your "CODE" monsters can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. Can make a second attack during each Battle Phase.

CODE Cog Dog
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", "CODE" monsters you control gain 500 ATK for each "CODE" card in your GY. Gains 500 ATK for each "CODE" card in your GY.

CODE Guardian
Default ATK: 3000
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", any monster sent to your opponent's GY is banished instead. Banish face-down any monster destroyed by battle with this card. If all face-up cards you control or all cards in your GY are "CODE" cards, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in Attack Position.

CODE Mantis
Default ATK: 1500
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", if your "CODE" monster attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage.

CODE Mechanoid Dragon
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", during your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 "CODE" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) You can Special Summon 2 "CODE" monsters from your hand in Attack Position, including this card. You cannot Summon the turn you activate this effect, except "CODE" monsters.

CODE Mercenary
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", this card gains the effects of all "CODE" monsters you control except "CODE Mercenary". You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing, but its original ATK becomes 0. You can Normal Summon "CODE" monsters for 1 less Tribute.

CODE Mummy
Default ATK: 1500
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", your "CODE" monsters cannot be destroyed by battle. Cannot be destroyed by battle.

CODE Octopus
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", double any damage your opponent takes. Double any damage your opponent takes.

CODE Scout
Default ATK: 1000
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", you can add to your hand or send to the GY 1 "C" card from your Deck instead of conducting a normal draw in your Draw Phase. When this card is Summoned: You can add to your hand or send to the GY 1 "C" card from your Deck. You cannot Summon the turn you activate this effect, except "CODE" monsters.

CODE Yeti
Default ATK: 2500
While this card is in your GY and you control "The Eye Of CODE", each time your opponent takes damage, draw 1 card. If a player takes damage: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in Attack Position.

CODE Alien Nok
Default ATK: 500
1 Level 4 or lower "CODE" monster
You can reveal 3 "CODE" cards with different names from your Deck, your opponent picks 1 for you to add to your hand, you shuffle the rest into the Deck, and if you do, you can return any number of Link Monsters from the field and/or any GY(s) to the Extra Deck. You can only use this effect of "CODE Alien Nok" once per turn.

CODE Emperor
Default Attribute: LIGHT, not DIVINE
2+ "CODE" monsters
Once per turn: You can send "CODE" cards from your hand and/or Deck to the GY up to the number of cards this card points to +1.

CODE Orbitron
Default ATK: 2000
2 monsters including a "CODE" monster
Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 monster this card points to; this turn, its ATK/DEF become 0. You can target 1 "CODE" card in your GY; add it to your hand, or you can Special Summon it in Attack Position if it is a monster, also in either case, you can shuffle any number of cards from your GY into the Deck. You can only use this effect of "CODE Orbitron" once per turn. You cannot Summon the turn you activate either of this card's effects, except "CODE" monsters.

CODE Sparrow
Default ATK: 1500
You can only use each of these effects of "CODE Sparrow" once per turn and cannot Summon the turn you activate either effect, except "CODE" monsters.
● You can target 1 "CODE" card in your GY; add it to your hand, or you can Special Summon it in Attack Position if it is a monster, also in either case, you can shuffle any number of cards from your GY into the Deck.
● If this card leaves the field and you control no Link Monsters: You can add to your hand or send to the GY 1 "C" card from your Deck.

CODE Ultimate Mechanoid Dragon
3+ monsters including "CODE Mechanoid Dragon"
While face-up on the field, this card is also WATER-Attribute. Unaffected by your opponent's effects. Cannot attack unless "The Eye Of CODE" is on your field or GY.

With these changes, I recommend deleting CODE Commander, CODE Hunter, CODE Spider, CODE Swarmbots, CODE Swoopie, CODE Truck, CODE Tyranno, CODE Freeze Bug, and "CODE RED: Escape Now!" The archetype currently has over 20 different main deck cards, so these large amounts of different cards should be toned down to make room for generic stuff, and also with these changes I suggested.

I'm not sure if Floppy The Wonder Dog is also part of this archetype since it neither has CODE in its name nor mentions the CODE archetype anywhere in its text. Unless it's supposed to be part of a different archetype, that too should be deleted to make even more room for staples.

CODE Calling Watch's effect can be buffed from:
Send 2 ''CODE'' monsters with different names from your deck to the GY, then add 1 ''CODE'' card from your deck to your hand, except the monsters you sent this way.
to:
Apply this effect up to twice.
● Add to your hand or send to the GY 1 "CODE" card from your Deck.
You can only activate 1 "CODE Calling Watch" per turn. You cannot Summon the turn you activate this card, except "CODE" monsters.

If you intend(ed) for CODE Emergency Station to be able to activate on the opponent's turn, change it to a continuous trap card and its effect from:
If an ''The Eye Of Code'' is destroyed; (Quick Effect) you can activate this from your hand or GY. You can banish this card from the field: Special Summon 1 level 6 or lower ''CODE'' monster from your hand. While this card is on the field, it's name is also treated as ''The Eye Of CODE''.
to:
If a Continuous Spell/Trap except "CODE Emergency Station" was sent to the GY this turn, you can activate this card from your hand or GY. If this card is activated: You can Special Summon 1 "CODE" monster from your hand in Attack Position. You can only activate 1 "CODE Emergency Station" per turn. This card's name becomes "The Eye Of Code" on the field.

CODEapose's effect can be shortened from:
When an effect is activated, destroy 1 ''The Eye Of CODE'' you control: negate that effect, then you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower ''CODE'' monster from your hand, also you can only summon ''CODE'' monsters this turn. When you tribute summon a ''CODE'' monster, you can pay 1000 LP and banish this from your GY; treat this as one of the tributes.
to:
When a card or effect is activated: Negate the activation, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "CODE" monster from your hand in Attack Position, then you can destroy 1 card you control.

With the changes I suggested to make it easier to summon the high-leveled monsters, that last part to treat itself as an extra tribute is no longer necessary.

The Eye Of CODE's effect can be shortened from:
When this is activated: you can add 1 ''CODE'' card from your deck to your hand. Once per turn, you can target 1 ''CODE'' monster you control: destroy it. At the start of your turn, if your GY contains at least 1 of each of ''CODE Mantis'', ''CODE Commander'', ''CODE Mechanoid Dragon'', ''CODE Truck'', ''CODE Octopus'', ''CODE Spider'', ''CODE Tyranno'', ''CODE Alligator'', ''CODE Yeti'', ''CODE Guardian'', ''CODE Chameleon'', and ''CODE Mummy'', you win the duel.
to:
You can only activate 1 "The Eye Of CODE" per turn. If this card is activated: Add 1 "CODE" card from your Deck or GY to your hand, and if you do, you can shuffle any number of cards from your GY into the Deck. Once per turn: You can target 1 "CODE" card you control; destroy it. If you have 15 or more "CODE" cards in your GY, you win the Duel.

It'll be much easier and faster to count the number of CODE cards in the graveyard than to count each of those specific names in the graveyard.

Christen57's changes are now live on Duelingbook...with one exception. Since this was the very first deck I made on Duelingbook, I didn't want to part with all those lost CODE cards, so I buffed them all myself, and then made a new deck that simply doesn't include them. The new deck is listed below:
https://www.duelingbook.com/deck?id=12136087
But as for the changes....oh boy. Now, the strong CODE monsters can be brought out a lot more easier, with CODE Mechanoid Dragon now able to Special Summon itself from the hand with the low condition that another CODE monster has to be in the hand, with CODE Ultimate Mechanoid having a far less limiting drawback to his huge ATK, CODE Alien Nok transforms from a combo enabler to a Link monster's worst nightmare, and the Eye Of CODE now only needs 15 CODE cards in general to win the duel! All of this comes at one glaring flaw: CODE Emperor has lost his ATK boost effect, and in fact now has the shortest effect text of the CODE monsters, meaning, in the second deck, CODE Cog Dog needs to be in the GY to grant his boost!
On the cards that were supposed to be removed, ATK values were changed, CODE Tyranno becomes a deadlier force, CODE Freeze Bug is no longer a glorified Negate Attack, and CODE Truck quite literally stops extra deck monsters dead in their tracks! These cards can be reviewed in the original deck, where they remain.
Thank you for the changes, and keep up the good work! (Perhaps you could try the Platypus next!)

I made some mistakes with my suggestions. Where I said to shorten CODE Alien Nok's effect to:
any number of Link Monsters from the field and/or any GY(s)
I realized that that part can be shortened further, to:
any number of Link Monsters from the field and/or GY

Also, I forgot to tell you to change CODE Sparrow's default materials from:
2+ ''CODE'' monsters
to:
2 monsters including a "CODE" monster

so that would match the other link-2's default materials.

These two changes are now live on Dueling Book! Boy, Christen57 is such a game changer, the resident deck buffer! I just wonder how he gets the ideas for these buffs in the first place: Does he test the decks, by any chance? If he's up for the challenge, Talking Tom or Perry The Platypus's deck spotlights could be an ideal next stop....
