Re: Custom Archetype (Golden Pentragon)

Post #21 by ShinRyu9 » Sat Mar 27, 2021 2:44 pm

So I updated the Spell cards to fit the general lore of the archetype. They still feel a little underwhelming. Nowhere near as strong the Trap cards, but that's fine.

I also wanted to introduce a new piece of lore, that includes a new archetype that is a part of the Golden Pentragon Lore. Meet Team DRAKE!

I wanted Team DRAKE to be a control team, but not-so degenerate as many control decks are. Let me know if it's a little too strong or underwhelming. Feedback, criticism, or any form comment is well welcomed (if you have suggestions on changing effects that would ultimately fit the Lore of the monsters, let me know, I'll more than likely change it to that suggestion)! Alongside Team DRAKE, there are also more GP supports (they are supposed to be characters that the 5 Main MD monsters meet as they head their way to attend the Kings of Oath Tournament).

Lore Time - Arrival
Starting from the Side-Deck first, the Golden Pentragons and their new companion, Ophelia, have traverse through the world of Densetsu. They must travel from the nation of Sylvia to Infernia, where the tournament is taking place. Along their journey, they meet the Astrals (they've already met Glaciana, the Astral Ice), including Ophelia's father, Bahamut Orpheus, the Astral King.

Bahamut Orpheus mistakenly attacks the Golden Pentragon for kidnapping their daughter, but with the help from the rest of the other Astrals, the Golden Pentragons were able to defeat the Astral King. Defeated, the dragon entrusts them to protect her daughter and summons one of his dragon servant to accompany them to the tournament.

As they arrive in one of the towns, they meet the wicked magician--Aura, who sees potential in their leader, Kenji. During one of their stays in an inn, Raghnall is attacked by an assailant named Sakuya who quickly retreats after being subdued. While evening, both Chase and Ophelia discuss about their Heavenly Artifacts as they notice the two items are calling for each other. She quickly recognizes he is currently wielding the Missing Ace, a powerful item that takes the form of a card that increases one's power, similar to her ring, Galeforce. And when the three Heavenly Artifacts come together, an even greater power emerges.

Are those Team Drake's their own archetype or works with the Golden Pentragons?
Also your archetypes are very lore-heavy. Are you planning to make some an archetype that sorta bridges the archetypes together like the Zefra or World Legacy?

Also I probably should try giving my own criticism some time.I kinda laughed a bit since I recognized some of the artworks. Aaric Damon and Yokhim Maximus are Eliwood and Hector from Fire Emblem 7. Agil Firmum is Yukimura Sanada from Samurai Warriors series. Collosus is Asura's Wrath, Power of Angelos Aether are from Naruto, Grandmaster's Arm are Shield Hero, and Heroic Light are friggin All Might.

Tbh I don't think you need to change these artworks. They're already good artwork. I just laughed a bit that I know some of the artworks. :D

Yep, they are works with the Golden Pentragon, similar to the World Legacy that is very lore-heavy, and trying to make effects that suits the lore of each character themselves.

Team DRAKE is one of the participants attending the Kings of Oath Tournament much like the Golden Pentragons. Hopefully, that make sense.

I realized I forgot to add lore about Team DRAKE as they are part of the Golden Pentragon lore. Their backstories are not connected (except maybe Yokhim Maximus and Jeck Lauheart). Each of them are 5 random people who wish to attend the tournament for their own reasons. Like Kenji, who is the leader of the Golden Pentragons, Drake is the leader of Team DRAKE.

Lore Time - Introducing Team DRAKE
Let's start with their leader, Drake. The archer who ventured the Great Sea of Belvaska (east of Infernia). Discovering the Dragoon Bow, he encounters the great dragon--Kuang. The water dragon cursed him for attempting to steal the bow. Should he mastered the power of the Dragoon Bow, he could keep it. But if he fails, he'll turn into stone. How would he learn to use the potential of the bow? The Kings of Oath Tournament have plenty of competitor. Surely he will learn to unleash its true potential.

Yokhim Maximus and Jeck Lauheart: Both of these characters have a rather similar story which is why I lumped them together. The two are close friends, and the only few survivors of their hometown. Their town has been plagued by a deadly disease that killed their master, Aria Smite Maximus. Their main goal in the tournament? To use the prize money and find a cure in order to save their townspeople.

Kunos Linos: A noble of the Linos family. His family are well known knights, but Kunos wants to stand out from the rest of his brothers. In doing so, he becomes Drake's first recruitment to attend the Kings of Oath Tournament.

Stevried Miller: A wandering warrior with no motives. He merely approached them as their last teammate. No one knows much about him, but he seems alright. At least on the surface level...

I also want to introduce some more cards that are part of the Golden Pentragon. More supports of the Golden Pentragon, and a sneak-peak of the next team--Team Stalwart. With every new cards part of GP world, more lore is added.

Lore Time - Birth of Angelos Aether
The rules in the tournament are simple: Both teams carry a crystal, destroy it, and the team wins. During one of their preliminary rounds, Agil finds Kenji in a 2v1 situation. Recklessly rushing to assist him, he is ambushed by a third teammate; however, before he is taken out, he is transported to an unfamiliar realm where he meets an unearthly entity (Angelos Aether, the Chrono-King). The entity doesn't remember himself, but he warns Agil not to be reckless and grants him to a second chance to redo his mistake. Using the power of time, Agil predicts the third teammate and successfully assists Kenji.
Lore Time - The Ace Forms and the Fool
In later matches, the Golden Pentragons have found their match against one of the opposing teams. Everyone except Kenji are recovering. With Kenji left, it is up to him to defend the crystal from being destroyed. Left alone and terrified, a new power is awakened and unleashed. The Ace Form. The audience ignite in excitement to see the tables turn as Kenji successfully defends his crystal. Eventually, the rest of the Golden Pentragon members start to unlock this "Ace Form". Even Team DRAKE found the answer to unlock the Ace Forms. All, except Agil, who works hard and never achieved it. He becomes so desperate to point where he almost causes his team to lose their crystal. The audience hardly pay attention to him, and would rather he be replaced by someone else who can make the matches be more exciting!
Lore Time - Miharu's Murderer
Chase Zinoc had only one intention when joining the team, to avenge his mother's death--Miharu. He was here, disguised as one of the admins within the tournament. Joker...
End of Lore

Phew, well, I certainly added quite a lot of lore this time! I tried making them brief and short all the while interesting to say the least. I know I haven't covered a few of the other cards, but I'll introduce them later. Don't worry! Feedback, criticism, or any form comment is well welcomed (if you have suggestions on changing effects that would ultimately fit the Lore of the monsters, let me know, I'll more than likely change it to that suggestion)!

Hello, everyone! I am back, this time, with the introduction of Team "Stalwart". I showed a sneak peak of what they can do, but I was uninspired by their effect--so I changed them! Formerly, they were monsters that Sp.Summoned themselves when you control a "Stalwart" monster, but their original ATK/DEF and Level are halved. I thought it was cool idea, but overtime, I just didn't like it. I wanted a theme that said "I'm only using 50% of my power!", something along those lines.

Now, they're all Level 5 monsters that can be Normal Summoned without Tributing, and they have Tribute Summoned effects if they are Tributed for a Tribute Summon (potential Monarch buddy, maybe?). I might need to re-adjust their effects later, but for me, it was a lot better than revealing it to your opponent and Sp.Summoning them with their ATK/DEF and Lvl halved. Maybe, that's just me.

As always, since they're part of the GP Lore, here's some Lore Time! - Introducing Team Stalwart
Tyrus Souledge, a vengeful warrior awakened by his slumber attends the Kings of Oath Tournament in order to destroy the one person who robbed him his prized treasure--Stevried Miller.

Albert Williams, a ronin who wanders the world of Densetsu in order to hone his skills taught by the Legendary Swordswoman, Jyubei. Both Agil and Albert seem have a rivalry.

Skarlet, a retired Infernian soldier and a fellow friend of Chase Zinoc, joins Team Stalwart in order to keep an eye on Tyrus and Joker. Those two seem to be working together, and Skarlet cannot forgive the things Joker has done to her family and friends.

Azel and Kurt, two mythical beasts tasked to escort Tyrus at his side. Recently, they've been suspecting of Chase's Missing Ace.

Lore Time! - Tale of the Murakumo Blades
Akane was a mentor to both Stevried and Tyrus who told them stories of the Murakumo Blades: the Dark Murakumo, the blade of chaos, and the Light Murakumo, the blade of order. It wasn't long till Akane died to her illness, so both Stevried and Tyrus traveled the world of Densetsu in order to obtain the legendary weapons all to make their mentor's dreams come true.

Dude, you double posted.
But still, I start to think this deck would have too many cards. Also, Yukimura Sanada again?

all good, but yeah, I agree that I may have made a bit too much for the GP Lore. I was thinking I should make situationally bad cards for the archetype but idk. Still thinking of ideas
