Konami Awards the Real Game Not Duelingbook

While it is fun and great that Duelingbook is free and gives you access to every single card in the game let's not forget that Konami will never reward you for anything you accomplish in Duelingbook, or any other free Yu-Gi-Oh! simulator. This means that the only way to score where it counts is by investing in the real game, and the purpose of this thread is to remind players to not ignore reality to their detriment.
For anything you wish to accomplish in life it requires four key things:
1) Attitude
2) Focus
3) Time
4) Energy
These four keys are naturally required for Yu-Gi-Oh! And that means at some point you will have to spend some good money. And this means that when the time comes you will have to get a job, but if you are not eligible yet for work then you will need to learn early on how to properly budget your allowance--if you receive any--or learn how to legally and lawfully earn money. Of course it is natural for every Yu-Gi-Oh! player to inherit or be given some cards in the beginning, but don't expect that this will continue to happen for long. All that said unless you are some promising genius who gains a sponsorship: you're going to have to work like the rest of the people in this world.
With those things out of the way what is the best way to get into the game? And where should one begin to invest their money? If you're starting out invest in the newest set and make it your goal to collect the cards in that set as all Booster Packs have four categories:
1) New Cards or Archtype(s) + Support
2) Old Cards or Archtype(s) + Support
3) Versatile Cards
4) Signature Monster of Booster Pack
While Duelingbook only accounts for 11,350 Cards digitally, counting the physical copies comes to about 13,622-14,031 Cards if you count the release of every single reprint and lump in the movie and anniversary packs, and exclude promotional or exclusive cards from both OCG and TCG. Anyways if you add up the total number of cards from each Booster Pack and divide the sum by the total number of Booster Packs then each pack on average is about 92 Cards.
Investing this way whether you're a new player or a returning player will ensure that you don't waste time dwelling on anything uncessary or get overwhelmed by the amount of cards out there. Konami's creation of Archtypes is to ensure that you can get into the game without having to waste time and energy trying to connect unrelated cards together, and instead learn through an archtype about themes and looking at ways cards interact so you can create your own new ideas in the future with cards from newer sets, and Starter Decks, and Structure Decks.
So in reality all this information means that you will easily spend at least +$100.00 on the following items:
- 1 Booster Box
- 1 Pack of Sleeves
- 1 Deck Box
- 1 Set of Dice
- 1 Game Mat
- 1 Starter or Structure Deck
Once you have these items you will want to take good care of them and not allow them to fall into ruin or neglect. Naturally you'll lose alot in the beginning because you won't be famiar with other cards, rulings, etc. but don't let that get you down as it's all a part of the learning process.
Just remember that while you are growing and learning more about Yu-Gi-Oh!, yourself, and others that you don't get lost in the virtual or digital world: because unless you're playing Duel Links or some other Konami sponsored virtual tournament you won't be gaining anything of substance. Therefore you can only expect to get a return on your investment if you wisely place your money in the physical game.
