Making a TCG

Post #1 by SolarPlexus » Fri Nov 06, 2020 3:12 am

I have a card game in mind that I'm wanting to start. I know how to make good ruling, character designs, artworks, all that. Just need help making it playable online, not sure how hard it would be to do, but I want to get the job done. Not sure why I'm asking for help on here, but I honestly don't know where else to ask. Maybe one of ya'll knows how to do this kind of stuff or has connections, who knows. Please message me if you can give a hand, thanks.

Untap.in support custom TCG, so you can bring your card there.
Still, can I get some insight about your TCG?
I have interest in badly designed custom cards.
You saw these cards as terrible, I saw them as ideas.

Layout the ground rules, make some placeholder cards and get your friends to help play test. Then make iterations upon what you learned from testing. You can make a Lackeyccg plugin to play it on an online platform.

My main issue right now is making the card frames look professional. I can easily make some good designs on pencil and paper, but trying it on the computer is a different thing altogether for me.

To be honest, has you playtested the TCG first?
Try finding some people who willing to test it.
After that, patch any problem the TCG had.
Then you can start making card frame.
But for now on, try using somekind of placeholder frame. Small editing with GIMP should work

Making a Trading Card Game isn't easy. As for bringing it to "life" online I can tell you subjectively that it will be hard, at least if you're already a programmer. If you're not, it will simply cost you, a lot, especially if we're talking about weird TCG rules etc.

This is an implementation of Wizard, a famous tcg here in Greece that I've been working on the last 2-3 months: https://youtu.be/Ia_Z0hS7nYY

If you're lookin for someone to make a template for you, I have experience in the matter.

Examples of my work: https://imgur.com/a/LnhPDbb

I would just ask a couple things. 1. A small payment in the form of a 2 dollar dono code, ain't much. 2. For you to download GIMP, so that I can send the files over to you so you can edit them as you please.

I'm by no means a professional, these templates were just made for fun projects is all. On top of that, you have full input and choice for the final product. One last thing: I'm not an artist. I can't make any assets for you. Everything you see in those images are public license. So anything you want me to use you're gonna have to send me, and I recommend it be either something you made, had made, or is free for public use.
