New Relinquished Support!

Post #1 by ~ Bunniee ~ » Fri Sep 15, 2017 10:52 am

Apparently there is some relinquished/eyes restrict support coming out: A hand trap, a fusion monster and a fusion spell.

Millennium-Eyes Illusionist
Level 2 DARK Spellcaster-Type Effect Monster
ATK 0
DEF 1400
You can only use each effect (among the (1)st and (2)nd effects) with this card’s name once per turn.
(1) (Quick Effect): You can discard this card, then target 1 Effect Monster your opponent controls; choose 1 “Eyes Restrict” Fusion Monster or “Relinquished” you control, and if you do, equip that target to the chosen monster. (Treat it as being equipped by the chosen monster’s own effect.)
(2) If an “Eyes Restrict” Fusion Monster or “Relinquished” is Special Summoned to the field: Add this card from your GY to your hand.

This card has many potential uses. If your opponent has multiple monsters on the field and attacks your relinquished with a monster equipped, you inflict the damage to them and the equipped monster is destroyed in place of relinquished, then when they declare a second attack you can discard this card and equip another one to it before the damage step. Realistically I don't think people will try to kill a relinquished with attacks very often but depending on how you build the deck you may be able to consistently deny other attempts. Perhaps there will be extra support that prevents the targeting/destruction of relinquished/eyes-restrict monsters. Perhaps an eyes-restrict link monster is over the horizon?

The new fusion, called millennium eyes restrict, has no limit of how many monsters are equipped to it but does have a once per turn limit so this card can be used to equip multiple monsters to it in the same turn. Millennium eyes restrict can also only equip a monster when an opponent's monster effect is activated so having this card means you don't have to wait for your opponent to use an effect before absorbing a monster.

Sacrifice Fusion / Relinquished Fusion
Quick-Play Spell Card
You can only use each effect (among the (1)st and (2)nd effects) with this card’s name once per turn.
(1) Fusion Summon 1 “Eyes Restrict” Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, by banishing Fusion Materials listed on it from your hand, field, or GY.
(2) You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 Effect Monster your opponent controls; choose 1 “Eyes Restrict” Fusion Monster or “Relinquished” you control, and if you do, equip that target to the chosen monster. (Treat it as being equipped by the chosen monster’s own effect.)

Considering millennium eyes restrict reacts to an activated monster's effect, it's interesting that this is a quick play. Perhaps the intention behind it is that you would wait until your opponent is about to activate an effect then flip up this card and either prevent them from using it (which could be very strong if they were about to link summon with a sangan or world chalice monster for example), or if they can't stop it from activating then they are forced to give up their best monster or important combo piece.

It's secondary effect is helpful too, giving us yet another method of equipping extra monsters to millennium eyes restrict and perhaps relinquished too (waiting on word from a judge about whether or not this card and illusionist allow for multiple monsters to be equipped to relinquished at one time).

It's worth noting too that you can use monsters in the grave as materials and running plenty of hand traps might be the right way to build this deck to add to it's potential to control the gamestate.

Millennium Eyes Sacrifice / Millennium Eyes Restrict
Level 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type Fusion Effect Monster
ATK 0
DEF 0
Fusion Materials: “Relinquished” + 1 Effect Monster
(1) Once per turn, when an opponent’s monster effect is activated (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Effect Monster on your opponent’s field or in their GY; equip that target to this card.
(2) This card gains ATK and DEF equal to the combined ATK and DEF of the monsters equipped to it by its own effect.
(3) Monsters with the same name as any monster equipped to this card by its own effect cannot attack, also they have their effects negated (if any).

The main dude. Fusion summoned using relinquished and any effect monster (from hand/field/grave). It reacts to the activation of an opponent's monster effect activating then sucks up any monster your opponent has that can be targeted. It also prevents monsters from activating their effects if there is a monster with the same name equipped to it which will be very strong considering most decks run 3 copies of their important monsters. Imagine equipping spyral quick fix to this card!

So overall I think this support has some potential and is well-designed. I've recently been craving a control deck and this just might be it. I think if you use cards to protect relinquished/millennium eyes restrict it could be a very strong deck. That said, I'd like to see a continuous spell/trap come out that protects relinquished and restrict from opponent's card effects so we can give real consideration to this deck being relevant in the metagame, however until then I think it wont do much considering how easy it is to just use an effect to destroy/bounce/negate these cards.

What are your thoughts? What existing cards could be used to accompany this interesting play-style and protect the key monsters? Personally I think a search card for the fusion spell and built-in protection are necessary but Ill be building the deck for fun either way.
