twin twisters negate conquistador of the golden land?

Post #1 by HeartOfDaCards » Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:17 am

One of my opponents brought up the fact that twin twisters destroys conquistador of the golden land before it is normal summoned therefore destroying it before it can activate its effect. Is this true?

If you activate Conquistador of the golden land as CL1, and Twin Twisters is chained as CL2, destroying Conquistador, Conquistador won't summon itself and you won't be able to destroy a card with it. A continuous trap card must be on the field at resolution to resolve with an effect.

{Special Summon this card as a Normal Monster (Zombie/LIGHT/Level 5/ATK 500/DEF 1800) (this card is also still a Trap), then, if you control "Eldlich the Golden Lord", you can destroy 1 face-up card on the field. During the End Phase: You can banish this card from your GY; Set 1 "Eldlixir" Spell/Trap directly from your Deck. You can only use 1 "Conquistador of the Golden Land" effect per turn, and only once that turn.}

1. the fact that it summons itself as a Normal Monster already dictates that the destruction is part of its trap effect. Since it is a continuous trap it can be "negated" with MST, Twin Twisters etc since it would have to stay on the field to resolve.

2. Even if it wasn't a continuous trap the "then" clause means that part 1 (the summon) has to successfully resolve in order for part 2 (the destruction) to happen. So even if it wasn't continuous MST would basically "negate" it.
