Fusion Monster Dark Magicians don't know if subsitute works

Post #1 by s.nickid » Sat Mar 28, 2020 5:05 pm

Fusion matterial for Dark Magicians his dark magician, or dark magician girl + 1 spell caster

Would the fusion substitute work to substitude dark magician or dark magician girl?
or the fusion substiute should not work since it would not know which one to substitute for?

Which one his the correct way?

Fusion Substitute, I'd imagine would only work for Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl

If Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl was on the field, and you activate fusion substitute which would only use materials on the field, that would be perfectly valid. The Dark Magicians says "Dark Magician OR Dark Magician Girl + 1 Spellcaster type monster." So having both on the field would satisfy the Dark Magician Or Dark Magician Girl clause and both monsters are spellcasters.

On an additional point:

Fusion Substitute does not "substitute" a material. It is another polymerization card. Note: This card is always treated as polymerization, so you cannot have 3 polys and 3 Fusion Substitutes.

Hopefully this helped.

@DarkPhenix: I'm referring to fusion substitution effect, not the spell card name fusion substitute.

Apologies. A card that acts like a substitute for the fusion material of a fusion summon must substitute a material that is explicitly stated on the card. For the card The Dark Magicians, you may only use fusion substitutes such as Goddess of the Third Eye and King of the Swamp to fulfill the "Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl" portion of the fusion requirement. In summary, you are able to use fusion substitutes and they may only be used on the "Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl" part of the text. Hopefully this helped!

Example:

You may use Goddess of the Third Eye and A Man with Wdjat along with Polymerization to summon The Dark Magicians

You may use Goddess of the Third Eye and Aleister the Invoker with Polymerization to summon the Dark Magicians
