Honest in Damage Step

Post #1 by solopolo » Sat Dec 09, 2017 12:03 am

Can honest be activated during damage calculation? What specific parts of the damage step can honest be used in? I've been told by one person that it couldn't, then by someone else that YCS ruled that it could. If the former is correct, was the latter just completely wrong, were honest/damage calc rulings changed, or do YCS's not always allign konami rulings? Or is it a TCG/OCG difference?

Honest's effect cannot be activated during damage calculation, but it can be activated during the Damage Step at any point before damage calculation begins. There is no difference between the TCG and OCG regarding this.

In the past, it used to be usable during damage calculation, but that's no longer the case and should be forgotten.

Thanks. Will make sure to save those links. However, I do have a question. The YGOrg article states that monsters that negate activations can be used during the damage step, but I recall back on DN shi en being ruled otherwise. Was that updated or did I get an incorrect ruling?

Also, is there a better ruling source than the wiki? The wiki currently says that honest can be used during damage calc in TCG, but not in OCG.

Quick Effects (Spell Speed 2 MONSTER EFFECTS) that negate ACTIVATIONS, can be activated during the Damage Step. The Quick Effect of "Legendary Six Samuari - Shi en" can be activated during the Damage Step. Either something important is being left out to me or the person that stated that to you is incorrect.

* Muko (Null and Void formerly) can longer be used in the Damage Step.

As for the wiki, the ruling you're probably referencing is either outdated or the source to that claim has since been removed from the Konami site, making it no longer valid. With the current game mechanics we have now, onest cannot be activated during Damage Calculation.

It is an effect that changes ATK/DEF so it can be activated during the damage step. Any card effect that alters those values can be activated during the damage step unless the card says otherwise. This is always the case and is stated in the official rulebook.
