Does World Legacy's Secret negates Effects, like Fire Hand, if they crash their monster, when their is a Mekk-Knight in the same column?

i tired it on ygopro and secret was able to negate the eff, but some player say, that the effect activates when it is in gy.

I found following comment on reddit:
Even if the monster who activated the effect leaves the field, there is still a monster effect that was activated in that column. Effects resolve where they are activated from, regardless of where the card is on resolution.

The Fire and Ice Hand, activate in the GY. They are not in the same column of any mekk-knight when activated.
