Evenly Matched FAQ

Post #1 by Monarch Snow » Tue Oct 24, 2017 5:27 am

The material written within this FAQ can be checked accordingly. Meaning nothing in here is incorrect. Hope you enjoy reading. :)

At the end of the Battle Phase, if your opponent controls more cards than you do: You can make your opponent banish cards from their field face-down so they control the same number of cards as you do. If you control no cards, you can activate this card from your hand.

RULINGS:
① : "Evenly Matched" CAN be activated from the hand, during either player's turn, if you control no cards.

② : "Evenly Matched" CAN be activated from your hand during your first turn WITHOUT setting, while you control no cards. You or your opponent must be able to conduct the Battle Phase to activate "Evenly Matched".

③ : It is the opponent's choice for which card(s) on their field are banished face-down, NOT the activator of "Evenly Matched".

④ : "Evenly Matched" DOES NOT target a card(s) on the field.

⑤ : "Evenly Matched" CANNOT banish Token Monsters face-down. Additionally, if the only cards your opponent controls are Token Monsters, "Evenly Matched" CANNOT be activated.

⑥ : "Evenly Matched" CANNOT be activated by the opponent while "Imperial Iron Wall" is applying its effect.

⑦ : If "Evenly Matched" is activated while you control no cards, your opponent needs to banish cards they control face-down until they have the same number you control. "Evenly Matched" is considered a card you control at activation, therefore, the opponent will banish cards they control face-down until they have 1 card on the field.

Notable Rulings (You May/May NOT want to know these)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⑧ : "Evenly Matched" DOES NOT "affect" a monster. The opponent manually banishes the card(s), they control.

Example: Player A controls 2 "Metaphys Executor". Player B controls no cards and activates "Evenly Matched" from their hand, during their turn. Player A is required to banish face-down 1 "Metaphys Executor" they control.
The Continous Effect of "Metaphys Executor", "Cannot be destroyed, or banished, by card effects." DOES NOT matter for how the effect of "Evenly Matched" is applied. 1 of the "Metaphys Executor" will be banished face-down.

⑨ : "Evenly Matched" CAN be activated if your opponent controls other cards while Tokens are on the field.
Example: Player A controls 4 Sheep Tokens and "Panther Warrior". Player B activates "Evenly Matched" (which is legal to activate), while they control no cards. Since Tokens CANNOT be banished face-down, "Panther Warrior" is the only card banished face-down.

⑩ : Player A controls 2 cards. 1 "Miracle Jurassic Egg" and 1 "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno". Player B controls no cards and activates "Evenly Matched".
When you attempt to resolve "Evenly Matched", "Miracle Jurassic Egg" cannot be banished, due to its Continuous Effect. The effect of "Evenly Matched" is able to resolve since "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" can be banished face-down. Therefore, "Ultimate Conductor Tyranno" is banished face-down.
