Rated Classic

Post #1 by Ezra_Scarlet » Wed Apr 11, 2018 8:26 pm

Not really much of a petition writer, but I think it would be fun to have an option for a Classic duel in the Rated Pool.
EDIT: Apparently I have to define what classic is. When I say classic, I mean a pre-Link playing field

Define classic because each banlist is a different format and if we cater to one we cater to all.

I'm not sure about removing singles, as some people legitimately don't like playing matches, and removing the option for them to not do so would be dumb...

Anyways, this wouldn't be too bad.

The suggestion for removing Singles has already been made, and the very first reply made a very good point

TCG/OCG pool from the DN days was removed from ranked play because it is not indicative of play in any real format. Neither are ranked singles. I'd prefer all rated play to be best of 3's and for the choices to be between the TCG and OCG formats.

I don't support this change at all, for three reasons:
First, Classic isn't supported in tournaments where others HAVE to play with Link like YCSs.
Secondly, it takes 10 minutes to look up a tutorial on how to play Link format, like that or 3 to ask a question on how to get help using links or staple techs like Scapegoat.
Third, Link was a developing balance for the game as MR4 was a check to Pendulum, and it added strategy to the game with proper column usage which was blatantly needed for Links.

TLDR git gud and adapt
Code: 0-0-2
Pistil of Strelitzia
Plantation 13's ace.

I. WILL. WIN.

Exactly. Singles don't really show much on skill, for all you know, you could've gotten the perfect hand and OTK'd.

But to the same extent, current banlist with classic format isn't really a thing, and when rated is designed to mirror the game, you're rewarding something that isn't even real.
